    ...if Bird played a different position in addition to 1B it might be a different story.

    Sadly with both Tex & A-Rod in the picture Bird will start the 2016 season in the minors. There's just not enough ABs to go around. And as was mentioned even when you rest Tex McCann will see his share at 1B also to give him a break from catching.
