Sure. They elect republicans in California, too.

    Always the joker.

Yes, they do. So it would be a tad simplistic to say 'Californians are Democrats'.

It's not simplistic to say the taxes and big government and regulations are the product of California republicans. If California tried to secede, the republicans wouldn't be able to stop it, or have much of a say.

Do you think republicans still are the party of science or never were the party of science?

Never thought about it that way. Since Nixion got out of the way, I alway thought of republicans as being the least obtrusive in governing my country. They left those of us working in science to our work. Even when my work became more about Banking, I found the republicans more helpful, especially in getting inflation under control. The democrats had been a disaster in that area.

If there is a party connection with science, I think it is the democrats, they use science to further their agenda. They fund more research by far, paying for research with a one sided view.
    I find it disgusting.

I don't know, but I hear they can buy Cadillacs, caviar, and cognac. I hear the 1% are all on food stamps, that's how they made their money.

Food stamps is the result of Democrats' economic policies.

Zero increase in the cost of living for Social Security and Veterans again this year. The third time this has happened, in my memory, all under Obama. Food prices and the cost of almost everything
older people need has nearly doubled under Obama, but they don't don't count food, energy and healthcare in the calculation. Obama has squashed any attempt to change this screwed up calculation.
I really am amazed you'd bring the SOB up!

Just in recently from the Congressman.

"Seniors should receive a cost-of-living adjustment every year. It’s becoming more difficult for seniors to afford the rising cost of living. Yet, defying all reason, the formula used to determine the Social Security COLA is based on the costs and buying habits of young families. The current formula relies on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for average workers, which focuses on things like education costs, clothing, technology expenses such as computers and iPhones, and gas prices— not the essentials that dominate most retiree budgets.

The formula needs to be fixed.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics already calculates a Consumer Price Index for the elderly (CPI-E)which measures the costs of items that dominate seniors’ budgets— medical care, prescription medication, housing, and food. The CPI-E has consistently been higher than the CPI almost every year since 1982.

For the past several Congresses I have introduced legislation to require the Social Security COLA be calculated using CPI-E. If the formula this year was based on CPI-E, seniors would receive a COLA in 2016."

The zero inflation is bull shit! The zero Cola is a fact.

They don't count the things MarAzul said in the calculation. They count more/other things that reduce the COLA to zero. He's 100% right that those things (along with low interest rates) are killing retirees and others on fixed incomes.
