He was completely healthy his senior year, and on this date 4 years ago--5 1/2 months before he was drafted--Lillard was #38 on DraftExpress' mock draft (#38 on 12/25/11, moved to #22 1/26/12). It is an absolutely perfect comparison to where GP2 is right now.

Where was Payton ranked this time a year ago?

Now we have to really start thinking about our chances of actually having a 1st round pick this year.

I'd rather ask for Juan Vaulet than their second rounder.

Their roster is in a bad spot. Billy Knight would terrify me if he were our GM.

Good, we need more upperclassmen moving up the boards, making this a deeper lottery than anticipated!

Uh, 2/16/15 was a year ago. :) Which is exactly what I was getting at. Payton was already on the radar (#49) a year ago and has improved little as a prospect since then. Lillard was barely regarded as a prospect his junior year and faced the difficult climb from oblivion. It's like the FBS system where preseason unranked teams have a difficult time cracking the top 10 even if they go undefeated for half the season.

No, 1/5/15 was a year ago. 2/6/15 was 11 months ago. Let's wait until the next mock draft update later this month to see if Payton's stellar play this season actually elevates him in the mock, as was the suggestion which predicated your initial inquiry. Again, it wasn't until late January 2012 that Lillard was first projected as a first round pick. If Payton were to climb the boards, now would be the time it might begin.

I said "this time a year ago," not "exactly a year ago." Figure of speech, dude. Or are you going to require that each mock draft was released at the same minute and second of the same day, also? I don't remember what the original point was, but I'm still left wondering have there been examples of someone who was ranked the year before entering the draft, who then went from mid-2nd round prospect to mid-1st round, give or take? Lillard's climb was meteoric because it took longer to overcome the stigma of a non-prospect.

Let's just put some more qualifiers on this. "I'm looking for an example of a senior point guard at a major conference school who is the son of an NBA hall-of-famer and plays alongside the head coach's son."

Look, there's never going to be a perfect corollary, because every player's situation is different. The main, overarching point--of which Lillard is but one example--is that just because a player is projected as a second-rounder in January, or doesn't mean he'll be available in the second round in June. Is that really so hard to accept?

Good lord. Why couldn't he be as big as his dad? Or even have a 6" longer wingspan?

Still the same season, being fall-winter-spring... Again, though, I'm not sure if we're arguing the same or different points after having gone around in circles several times.

Isn't mom tiny? I haven't seen a picture of her in years, but I recall her being like half the size of Arvydas.
