Mason was our best player by far through the first 3 quarters tonight, and then doesn't reenter the game until there were :58 seconds left in the game. What gives?
Plumlee and Davis might have triggered a hack-a strategy from Suck Rivers. Also Jordan decided to start giving a shit in the fourth. But I agree that wasn't awesome.
It's a good stat when looking at a larger sample size. However, the game-to-game variances make it useless with small sample sizes.
Plums didn't play because Meyers was helping take some of the defensive pressure off of Dame as a release guy off the double team. I was okay with that move in principle. Problem was, Leonard being a lil B who was so scared to shoot wide open threes. He made like one three and acted like he was hot shit, and then proceeded to do essentially nothing the rest of the way. I don't care about his potential anymore. Get him off my team and get as much as you can for him in a trade. Dame is loyal to a fault about his teammates, but even he looked frustrated at how many open shots Leonard was passing up. CJ has already said he wants to punch Leonard in the face for not shooting. Tongue in cheek maybe, but the sentiment stems from real frustration.
I don't have an issue with Meyers being in the game - I had an issue with Ed being in the game. It shoulda been Meyers/Plumlee rather than Meyers/Ed. Plumlee was amazing last night and Ed was pretty awful in the 4th quarter. Plumlee has become a much better FT shooter, and Ed blows. It's a no-brainer to play Plumlee over Ed in the 4th.
We have too many bigs who are capable of playing starter's minutes. I've discussed this on the podcast recently, but there are simply not enough minutes to go around for four guys who need more than 20-24 minutes a night. You take Plumlee out, but then Davis is working on a double-double of his own. You want to leave Meyers out there because of his ability to stretch the floor, but you don't get the rebounding that the others bring.
With two front court positions, and 4 guys equally deserving (that's a stretch) that breaks to 24mpg each. I think an argument can be made that Plumlee is the only one who deserves more than 24mpg. There are enough minutes for everyone (if we exclude Kaman - which we have).
Yeh, I don't really want to keep Leonard on the team. Will he be a restricted free agent? I don't want to hope we can sign him to a decent contract and then trade him; I'm afraid some team will do to us what we did to OKC with Kanter, so I would trade him before the deadline if there is any chance of a decent return.
A) If a team signs Meyers to the max, they deserve him for their stupidity because B) We sure as hell better not match.
