I know I'm late to the party but the guy really isn't worth listening to, is he? He though Memphis and Portland were the best teams in the West last year. He refused to give Golden State any credit. Now he's saying that the low seeds in the West are better than the low seeds in the East which is simply untrue by any metric. He thinks the Bucks should be one of the best teams in the East. He's never won a championship and Shaq, who is, is earning my respect every day. Shaq knows winning basketball when he sees it. Barkley has no clue. On the subject of the East, by the way, one of the reasons we had great starts to the season last two years was because we played a bunch of bad East teams early in the year. I would go to those games, remember? I became ClutchSpeed for a couple months. Anyway, this year, we haven't played many East teams yet and when we do, they're not going to be as easy as last year.
I read two or three sentences and started hearing Alanis Morisette in my head. ITS LIKE RAY EEEE AAAAIINNNN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY
Year after year the majority of the good Draft picks went to the East. What kept the West better was the good FA's kept coming West. 2010 Draft - Top 3 picks to the East (2 of the top 14 left from East to West) 2011 Draft - 4 of the Top 6 to the East 2012 Draft - 3 0f the Top 4 to the East 2013 Draft - Top 4 to the East 2014 Draft - Top 4 to the East 2015 Draft - Rookies...3 of the Top 5 So they have had a ridiculously high percentage of the top picks in the last 6 years and many of those picks have started to mature and are now in their mid-20s and in the prime of their career. Meanwhile in the West, only the Warriors have a young roster full of quality home grown Draft picks. It is another reason why I want Portland to get a quality pick this year to add to Dame/CJ and whomever else develops. They could have a quality, young roster for years to come while most of the rest of the West is rebuilding.
King, you've probably never been around TV shows, so I'll educate you. The actors say lines they're told to, not what they believe. This way, false controversy is created to raise the ratings. Character differences are paramount; there must be staged arguments even if, in real life, the characters agree on everything. On the other hand, I agree that Barkley's a moron to whom the media has always been attracted, only because he talks more slowly than the other players in the locker room. So like you, I dislike Barkley, but not for your reason (that he's wrong on his basketball comments).
So you think Duncan, Ginobili and Nowitzki are still playing in 3 years? That would make Duncan 42, Ginobili 41 and Dirk 40. How likely is it Durant stays in OKC? That D-Ho is still in Houston? Z-Bo will be 37, Jamal Crawford 38, Paul Pierce 41....that is a lot of HUGE pieces to just go out and replace and usually that doesn't happen so easily.
It's like reading something funny and then having an annoying song stuck in your head ALL DAY A little TOOOOOOO ironic
Hahahahahaa. Remember that song "I'm blue yada dee yada da" Something like that. My friend knew I hated it and it would get stuck in my head. He'd ask me something like "what color is the sky?" And that song would get stuck in my head. I wanted to kill him.
He was right about us, up until Wes went down. And Memphis was tough. He did underestimate GS, but only because nobody could have reasonably expected them to maintain that level of shooting for that long.
Ohhh yea the West is going to be really different in a few years, shit even starting next year. Thats why I don't mind this route we took last summer, I really believe we just started the West reshuffle early and the rest of the powers at be (spurs, okc, LAC, mem etc) are just fighting the inevitable. Only the Warriors are set to contend for awhile. The goal for the Blazers should be and I think it already is, to just be ready to set your footing for the next handful of years to be a top 4 West team that's contending. Hopefully we can look back and say thank god we started our rebuild early and now everybody is playing catchup.
