Meyers does seem to need a lot more encouragement. But this forum is not helping by talking about salaries or making negative judgments. What about giving him a chance to play enough minutes to shoot 12 or more 3-point shots, and constructive criticism about how to improve on defense? He did well in his starts last year, and seems to be cool and potent when given the OK to shoot. He is a big man with talent that should develop into a star with the Blazers, rather than someone else. Let's give him a reason to be on fire!
I think this is the operative sentence. "What would you do if one of the kids you were coaching kept passing up shots you knew they could make... Game after game?" How can we best change this?
i think id seriously shoot someone if we paid him 7m a season after what trash he's shown us so far. which begs the question/quess of what kind of contract was offered and rejected by Meyers...... I know that $10m per contract rumor from a road commentary team was flying around, but seriously, If they even offered him 4yrs 28M and he declined I'd be shocked. Could be the most misguided and unwarranted self-belief fuck-up in recent Blazer memory, and conversely one of the best non-choices for the franchise as well. we got ed davis for 3yrs $20m and he is completely wrecking Meyers in just about everything except height & 3's - which i could give less than a fuck about with shooters like Dame, CJ, Crabbe, Aminu, Henderson, Harky. He's a played out novelty. Get real peeps. In saying that, 4yrs - 18m i could live with if there is nobody else out there we could get. anything 5m+ he can fuck off.
With the salary cap going up, take what you think a player should max out at, then add a couple more. That is the new reality. Like I said I would only give him MLE type money, but that will soon be 7 mil/per.
There is a lot of potential in Meyers and Dame raining in the swish3s. I trust that this thread has made you think about how these 2 guys from the same Blazer draft class can develop into scoring threats that can progress toward a 60+% wins season.
Bottom line is Nards has improved from his rookie season. He has shown he can be a role player who can have good games. But this year if you know anything about basketball. He has shown that he has a long way to go before he earns the right to start over anyone. He got pulled from the Thunder game for idiotic plays... Any coach not blind would have done it. Where as vs the Kings he kept Plumlee on the bench AND one could argue that he made George Karl pull Boogie because Boogie was caught in no mans land on defense too many times... 3's are nice but if you're hurting your team by not taking the wide open shots you get, or hurting your team defensively the Blazers have enough young bigs to replace you right now. Do your job, or don't forget to bring a towel.
I'm gonna post this here instead of starting a new thread... Could you imagine walking in a Dave and busters and there's dame and Meyers doing work on the hoops.
Dude is enamored with his three point shot. With Kaman, Plumlee, and even Davis around I cannot for the life of me understand why he doesn't have a SINGLE go-to post move.
idk the few times this season he's been put on the block. I've seen him go to the turnaround fade every time.
The famous turn around fade at the top of the key! I know it well my friend! Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
