Would we be able to trade our real pick on draft day, given the rules around lotto protection? I assume so but the rules can be capricious.
Yes--the Stepien rule only governs future picks. Once the pick has been made, it is no longer a pick that you would be trading, but the draft rights of a player.
CJ to BOS for Lee/Kelly and BOS + BKN's picks? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ze8rwgz I'm not advocating trading CJ, just trying to figure out how to get more picks.
I would agree on this. Making it to the western finals says we are close and we just need the right piece to get us to the top. Lots of players would jump at being the missing piece. Plus it helps if you have likeable players. I think Dame will have the potential to recruit by that time.
CHA, WAS, BOS all a game or so out of the playoffs. Henderson for Hawes (still got quite a bit of money left coming his way) + CHA pick (add some lotto protection this year, and remove it for next year). David Lee and Nene other targets.
Well I think Henderson would certainly help CHA more than Hawes does. And it saves them about 15 mil over the next three years in exchange for a pick.
Personally, I think you're going to need a little of this in order for a team to trade a lotto pick this year:
Did some digging on this and think we may have a loophole. Henderson was acquired on Jun 25, before the start of this current season on July 1. Could be wrong, but according to TradeMachine, the only player on our team with this restriction is Harkless and Orlando. RealGM tradechecker says Henderson still has the reacquisition restriction on him, though.
Lotto pick is definitely looking far fetched. I'll settle for a pick in the 20s. Or even a protected future first rounder
It's not a lottery pick, but how would everyone feel about sending Meyers to Orlando for Channing Frye and a Top-14 protected 1st in this year's draft?
Done. Frye is probably what Leonard projects to become. ORL's only incentive to do that is $. Doubt they'd do it.
Sure. Frye is a great guy on and off the court, would be a good acquisition especially with the pick added.
