Nash is great at carry the puck up ice. However, when he is in dumbass mode he's useless offensively. Benching Lindberg is just f'n stupid. Playing Glass is beyond f'n stupid. Talking to some Rangers fans this week. The coach is starting to lose credibility with the fan base. One prospect worth watching is Iverson at 6'1, 220 lbs. He's one of those guys who probably will have 50 points in junior, 40 points in the AHL and 30-35 points at the NHL. Kid is a freight train and skates like the wind. He's asked to play a defensive role on his team. Those are the types of players we need more of on the 3rd and 4th line. Tough players that can chip in once in a while on offense. The first and second lines should be scoring. No surprise with the assclowns on those lines they don't finish. The following list of players could all go and I wouldn't be upset Nash Kreider Hayes Yandle Staal Girardi Glass Boyle As usual, problem with most is not the salary. It's the dumbass NMC and NTC's.
I think right now the most likely move is Yandle for a forward who can score some goals. It makes too much sense. Not saying that is what I would do, I would try like hell to deal Staal to resign Yandle, but I think that is the move that happens OR Yandle for picks/prospects that can be flipped for a scoring forward, which is indirectly Yandle for a scoring forward. I see that as the move we'll make. And BTW...the special teams have been awful. Our PK is real bad these days and the PP is 0-18 the past handful of games, and hasn't come through in big spots. Special teams have really hurt us. They need to improve.
I wouldn't disagree with adding Stepan to this list. Our 6.5m dollar man is playing the worst and most uninspiring hockey of his career and is a big reason why this team cannot score a damn goal
Issue is we cannot trade everyone. And at some point if we say deal Hayes or deal Stepan or deal Kreider we are also subtracting some potential O, so adding O sort of isn't as much of a gain as we would like. To me the focus should be adding O without subtracting O. I would deal a Hayes especially for an O upgrade given how disinterested he has seemed at times, but trading Kreider and trading Stepan sort of defeats the purpose IMO.
If you're looking to trade that many people then it's a rebuild and you better be ready to handle the bad years that come with that. You can't compile a list of ten or more people and realistically think they're all getting moved.
It's starting to get late for the potential of Kreider. He's 24. He's now been in the league 3 years. This wasn't a kid brought into the NHL at 18 or 19. He's freakin dumb. He's too stubborn to change also. The simplest way to put it is as follows. This team is not a contender. I don't like the way this team is built. They aren't tough. They aren't physical. There aren't enough finishers. There isn't a identity. There are too many overpaid, fat, cats on this team.
I see far too many similar players on this roster. There's not a single tough forward to be had. They should've moved a defenseman early on for scoring help and I said after last season that they should sell high on Klein and see what you could get. They stood pat and Klein is looking worse and worse out there. Doesn't take the body and looks lost.
I've said forever. Go get a forward like King on the Kings. They can get him. They don't get him because they have turned into an incompetent team with trades. Sather went from fleecing people to giving up way too much and tons of picks. Gorton has proven to be an imbecile at the job. Basically, it looks like we are screwed now.
How many of you remember a D man by the name of Rosival? Many fans on this board wanted this guy off the Rangers.............we got our wish. Rosival lands on Blackhawks' roster and low and behold he winds up with 3 Stanley Cup rings. Yeah, he really sucked! But, with the right coach, and the right players, a player can reach the top of the mountain. Meanwhile, many fans are trading the whole f'king team for anything that endears the imagination. It is a crapshoot and anything can happen.
Rosival did jack shit on the Hawks. Please. They won 3 cups because of Kane, Toews, Seabrook and Keith. That's it. The rest of the role players on the team were along for the ride. Without those 4, they win shit.
That is why the Rangers made the trade for Nash. They thought with Hank, McDonagh, Nash and maybe Stepan they had 4 core players do build around. Unfortunately, Nash turned out to be a playoff dud. You could make the case if Nash turned out to be Kane or Toews in the playoffs, the Rangers have 2 cups now. They were that close.
Yikes, Rozsival? A guy who won 1 cup as a 6th defenseman on a loaded team, and didn't even play in their second cup series? (not sure where 3 rings came from). He wasn't awful here, but the problem with him was that he was our top shutdown defenseman. He was not cut out for that role whatsoever. He is, and always has been a bottom pair guy. Jesus what a black hole of a time for this team, remember that next time we bitch about this roster.
Agree times a million. I would have sold high on Klein, packaged him with Talbot at the draft and gotten a forward. I really think that package could have filled our hole in the top 6.
^^^^^^You see the name Rozival and you go apeshit........ You did not read the entire reply. It is apparent these Rangers do not have the CORE as in the past two years. Their window is almost closed........with the deterioration of Girardi and Staal and the lack of toughness and scoring from the Nashes, the Stepans, and the continuing putrid play of Megna, Glass and Stalberg.......this team looks worse with little chance of playoff victories......and the team is still in 3rd place in their division.....with four teams breathing right down their backs.
