And indeed the source of my astonishment! But I think you are in a real minority here. If not, you best get prepared for the oven march.
I won't let an old lady at WalMart check my receipt when I leave. I sure as hell won't go willingly to my death no matter the circumstances. But, since I don't see that happening I'm not worried about it. I may starve when the immigrants have to take care of me in 20-30 years but I'll worry about that then.
I hate that shit at best buy and Costco too. Like I get it, it's your job to check my receipt. But don't act like I steal shit everytime and that I'm hiding something from you, cause I'm not.
I'll tolerate it at Costco and Best Buy mostly because of how Costco works and that they have always done it. Sams Club doesn't bother me either. WalMart, I go through checkout and they bag all my groceries or whatever and THEN you want to check me again. Fuuuuuuuuuuckkkkk YOU. I don't care if I get banned from WalMart anyway, I only go to buy oil for my car. Being white they never really look anyway. There was a guy at Sams Club I noticed digging through the cart of a black lady. Then my turn comes and he just draws a stripe on mine after glancing in my cart. So fucking racist. My wife even said something as we left and we actually had a quick chat with the lady in the parking lot. She was furious. I told her it was fucked up and if she wanted I'd give a statement if she wanted to complain. She said she'd be complaining all day every day if she complained about that stuff every time it happened. I couldn't blame her. If she raised hell she's just a whiny bitch to them anyway.
That, by the way, is a very good example of white privilege. Not just the fact that you didn't get your bag searched, but that you could have pointed out the unreasonable difference in your treatment and hers without being unfairly maligned for saying something. Being white actually allows us to call out white people for racism without people assuming that we have an agenda.
It happen to me too, about two years ago, a guy started angling toward me as I was leaving. We had a collision in the doorway. The fucker was denying me my Privilege!! Bad way to do business, I don't go there anymore. You should have suggested the same to the lady. Enough do this and they cease this abuse.
How is checking all receipts upon exit "rudeness" if it's their standard business practice, which is understood by their customers as a matter of course?
WalMart is the only store in my town that does this, here and there. It is rude, to go through their checkout line and then be accosted by some dude to check the receipt you just were handed. I find it rude and once was enough. I recommend the solution to others.
But he wasn't talking about Walmart. Sam's Club (just like Costco) has it as a standard practice that all their customers are OK with.
Imagine that happening to you almost everywhere you go and for random shit not just receipts at the door.
I said something out loud when it happened. I don't recall what but I don't keep my mouth shut in situations like that. My wife gets furious at me when I do but whatever, she can deal. I just wanna get the fuck out of there when I have the chance. There is a guy who works there who is about 5'8" tall and weighed probably 365 when I first started going there. He's about 450 now. His eyes are getting to where they barely look open his face is so fat. I wanna say something to him to help him because I've been there. If I started fighting for everyone shit would get really out of control quick.
A shitty rating would disqualify it. Skin color of the actors and director shouldn't disqualify it. Apparently that sort of thing has.
I've only had that happen to me once in my life, I was in my 20s. We were at Blockbuster Music in Portland. I noticed a guy from the store following me around the store so I started picking up CDs and putting them down in the wrong section. Then I started wandering all over the store, I went faster over time. I rounded a corner and then did a quick turn and ended up face to face with him. I screamed in his face "Why the fuck are you following me" He said that he recognized us and last time we were there we stole a bunch of cds. I think he pissed himself I was screaming at him so loud. He said he was going to call the cops. I said go ahead bitch. We left, went outside and called their corporate office. I haven't stolen so much as a pen at a restaurant since I was a little boy. The difference for me is dviss1 would end up in jail.
I hear you. I definitely concede there is some white privilege there. I'd guess Asian privilege too regarding that.
