He becomes a more interesting piece every game it seems. His offensive numbers are not great right now but I think were starting to see the clay forming into something special built around his versatile and rugged defense. not many players are as quick and as built as noah is he can guard 1-4 and you cant back him down in the post. He has the ability to become an elite defender in this league. He really reminds me of 20 year old Kawhi Leonard I love seeing him get 20-25 mins a game and I think his play lately has warranted getting those minutes consistently.
HE is our future inside scorer. Him, Dame, CJ, Plumlee and Aminu; If they continue to play together in two years time, could be a very potent starting line up. Crabbe becoming our 6th man. Davis coming into his own as a quality backup big. We need to figure out what to do with Leonard, Harkless, Hendo and Kaman. Harkless might turn into a quality backup SF. The others, I don't think are a long term fit and need to be used to try to upgrade the bench. I love what i'm seeing overall and they are right on pace for what I thought they would do. Struggle early and be just under 500 ball by mid season, get to 500 ball by the end of the season and with a couple more guys make progress and hopefully a big leap or two coming into next season and we are a playoff contender with pieces to move to bring in the guys we need to make a push next season at trade deadline. Noah has the 1st or 2nd best +/- for the Blazers in the last 4 games in a row. He is shooting 67% with 6 rebounds per game while playing under 20 minutes. He is active, gets his hands in the passing lanes and does a lot of little things while being the best perimeter defender of any of the Blazer big men. Hope to see more of him.
If Vonleh's steady improvement continues to the point where he's performing consistently as an above-average starting PF by season's end, that should be the kind of thing that should be rewarded with the MIP award. I know it would never happen, but it absolutely should.
Vonleh is our PF of the future..I think they're bringing him along just the right way. I also think Alexander and Montero are going to be future rotation players. Vonleh is ready for prime time right now.
True, but if you asked him, he'd tell you that he hasn't really improved so much as has been given more opportunity. Vonleh, however, has actually become a better player add the season has progressed. Based on the definition of the word in the award's title, Vonleh may actually be more deserving than CJ.
I love what I'm seeing from Vonleh, but I'm not yet ready to declare him our power forward of the future. These flashes are great to see though. Keep the development going big guy!
Vonleh is doing what is asked if him, taking what the defense gives him, playing surprisingly good defense, and not making mistakes. This is how you learn and become something in the nba. It is something trob never figured out. He tried to do too much instead of learning through small steps and allowing the game to come to him. Remember, vonleh has the ability to dribble drive and put the ball on the floor too. It is nice to see him help the team and not try to be a flailing super hero out there.
This is just a random question, but with further development, could you see vonleh turning into our pseudo version of Draymond?
I don't think he possesses the versatility offensively to do be. I haven't seen him defend on the perimeter enough either.
Good answer. Obviously, he isn't in the ball park yet. I am just thinking of the future and continuous growth. He has a lot of the same natural skills. He probably will never get to that level, I was just throwing it out there.
Now, come next summer league, I would like to see him try some other things from his repertoire, just to see how much he has improved and gauge how much more he needs to improve.
The smogshow leaves the backdoor open so often they should keep a super-economy size tube of K-Y handy to "moisten the needle" . . . .
