The crazy wandering mother complains that her son feels abandoned...not by her of course...by someone he's never met. If he truly feels abandoned (yeah right), which person most likely abandoned him?

Am I the only one who remembers that back in late '02 and early '03, as Bush was drumming up support for the invasion of Iraq and getting staged for it, he was also gutting the Veteran's Administration? That idiot was chomping at the bit to send American kids into harm's way, yet he was just as eager to decimate the support system those kids were going to be dependent on when (if) they made it home. How on God's green earth is that any way, shape or form Obama's fault??? Sarah Palin is a moron.

Not the way I remember it. I had applied to the VA for Benefits back in 1995. One of the reasons we move to Bandon was the local VA clinic located in Bandon. However, it took 9 years before the VA accepted me in the the system as a priority three veteran. I was accepted in 2004 as part of the ramp up of the program. A good percentage of the Veterans using the Clinic in Bandon lived near in the local area. Nice place with a VA clinic, heck of a deal! Then in 2009, they built a new clinic miles away in North Bend Oregon and closed the Bandon Clinic just like that, bang, done!

We still wonder what the hell was up with the move, it's about a 50 to 70 mile round trip to the new facility now for most of us. The building in Bandon is a good building, now is a community health clinic. The new facility in North Bend was apparently was part of a crash program to build stuff as part of the stimulus package. But you can't get a straight answer.

Yes I can and do blame Obama for screwing up healthcare in a multitude of ways for me and my wife.
The little tax levied on employers providing healthcare for retired people was his most devastating blow.
Even if the Republicans do over turn the ACA someday, they can not undo the damage Obama has done to most of us.

You Republicans sure do expect the government handouts, don't you. If the move happened in 2009, it was planned before that year, when Bush was President. Government medical facilities aren't moved that fast.

Wow! You seem to have more information about the VA than any of the vets or the people that work there. Here I thought maybe it was a rare example of the stimulus building something.
None of the vets I have talked with, had any knowledge of the move being scheduled. Even my provider at the time, whom lived in Bandon didn't know of the move prior to when it was posted in 2009.

Why do you think they would hold this planned move private until it was about to happen? But then why move it away from most of the Vets???

I don't get your handout comment, want to explain?

Why do you think that Washington, D.C. would tell all the Bandon peons of the plan a year in advance? Rome was not built in a day.

Have you ever instantaneously planned, organized, and executed anything big? When you walk into the store to buy your nautical marine clock (my brother still has an antique one lying around from when he refurbished his boat 30 years ago), if it's the first time the clerk hears that you're building a boat, does that prove that you conceived of the idea that day?

Only a jellyfish brain (they don't have them) would think that if a medical facility moved in 2009, the move must have been conceived, planned, organized, and executed after Jan. 20, 2009. Even a coral reef could figure out that studies had been made for years, and conclusions drawn long before they were acted upon.

Seems very logical to inform the Vets of where their facilities are going to be. They do often chose to live withing reasonable distance of the facility they will use to receive healthcare.
Most employers notify their employees of pending moves too, they normally need to know so they can live withing reasonable commuting distance.

Don't need a nautical clock these days, the GPS works great. So does the computer. And time is still available over the radio.

Funny you should mention jellyfish brains. Seems about right. Yes, I think they could construct a one story medical facility in one summer. I am pretty sure they did just that amazing feat.
They just omitted the normal prior proper planning where everyone is informed of what is going to happen. Just a small compromise so they could run up signs like these to tell the world
how smart they are and the good works they are doing. Remember these?

Guess none of you read the newspaper down there? Here's mention of the potential move in 2007.

And then here is the announcement of the move from 2008.

    But yeah, it's Obama's fault.

    Yep! Indeed it is.

Several of us contacted the Coos County Veterans advocate about 2007 because that Carlson woman in Roseburg was skewing the numbers. The Advocate thought this was put to rest
because Bandon was central for most of us, even the people that lived in the Coos Bay zip code. Moving the Clinic the far north end of the area served would be ridiculous. While only
19 percent lived in Bandon, most where clustered around Bandon. Now with the clinic in the North Bend everyone drives North, except those that now live closer to Brookings since the clinic
    move North further.

    Paste from the 2007 article;
"The data showed that 56 percent of the patients using the Bandon clinic are living in Coos Bay or North Bend, while 19 percent are living in Bandon and 25 percent are living elsewhere.

The study also showed many patients living between Bandon and Brookings were driving to the VA clinic in Brookings, located about 11⁄2 hours south of Bandon on U.S Highway 101.

“We are always looking to be more efficient,” Carlson said of the search for available space. “These are taxpayer dollars.”

Area served by Bandon, now North Bend. To the north of this is the Oregon Dunes, not many Vets live there. South of this is closer to Brookings.

We, those that I spoke with and my Provider (doctor) all thought this was put to rest. My provider even moved to Bandon in 2008.
Apparently Carlson continued and the idea made a good shovel ready project. Screw the Vets. The Va was using about half the building
in Bandon, now most of it is a Community Health Clinic.
