Maybe so, but if he gets an offer in the 12-13 range, and we match, it's going to be even harder to trade him.

Don't forget, the Thunder are paying Kanter max money because of us. I could see someone doing the same with Meyers.

Then they would get Meyers for MAX. Good for them (they will love that in a couple years - not)! We won't match that. But is nice to have the option to match a 10 MIL average per year deal if we choose.

I have to think that Neil has a pretty good feel on what kinds of offers might be out there for Meyers.

Wookees must have lung conditions. Apparently, they speak like Stevie on "Malcolm in the Middle." Three (gasp). Different (gasp). Questions (gasp)."

Maybe if he agrees to change his first name to Fred and keeps Meyers as his middle name, he might be able to get a Blazers sponsor to cover part of his new salary.

The more I think about it, why shouldn't players be able to work a deal to rename themselves to pick up sponsorship dollars? If it works for the teams to sell the name of the arenas, why shouldn't players be able to cash in. What do you think Dame could get to rename himself Damian Lillard Adidas and put Adidas on the back of his jersey?

Yeah there is no way I would match that amount. He would not handle the pressure from the fans in living up to that contract. I am sure he wants the most he can get, but I think he would be better off in the long run being a role player off the bench and getting paid like one. (Which still will be 7-8 million per)

I always think about Greg Ostertag for Utah. He went from a fan favorite to the butt of every joke immediately after signing a big contract and not living up to it. He did not handle it well.

If Meyers continues to improve (or better yet at least doesn't decline) then I could go as high as 10 MIL a year on average. John Henson signed a deal for 11 MIL a year. Cap is going up and people are going to overspend... I just want the option to match. Not saying we have to match something outrageous (definitely not matching MAX!). Plus, remember, we would sign our new incoming free agents (that we hopefully get) before dealing with Meyers.

With that said, I would deal Meyers for sure in the right deal. All about options...

I think he grew out of his lung issues and became Michael Holton.

All this talk is way to early. We don't know what Meyers will be at the end of the season. Golden State has two great guards and a Unicorn (Draymond). Portland has two very good guards (who need to step up the D a bit) and potentially a similar Unicorn (Vonleh) and another true Unicorn (Leonard)--neither of which is even close to his ceiling. A big part of me hopes that Olshey holds pat and these guys continue to become who they could be. I'm not sure this team is missing any pieces if Leonard, Vonleh and Crabbe continue to grow. This team fits together so nicely, they just need a bit more from the young guns and that could be enough.

So based on the fact that you said that GSW has two "great" guards, and we only have two "very good guards," are you saying that Klay is better than Dame?

I'm just asking for a friend.

CJ is not going to be traded regardless of what happens over the next month.

Trade CJ? The reasoning is to save a draft pick? Explain the odds that what ever pick we end up with being better than CJ.....jeesh
