If "swish3" is going to be a thing, then "unicorn" can be too.

Not really, it could be CJ for a former lottery pick (Okafor?) + not losing this years pick, + cap space to sign someone?

CJ becoming a dynamic back court mate to Dame prevents NO from trading CJ.

Turning down a good trade just so you can try to back into the 8th seed with a sub .500 record?

    That would be utter lunacy.

    Another CJ trade post. ugh.

Exactly, give these guys a year or two. That mesh of skills between the two is not as overlapped as people think. Dame is killer in pick and roll, and is a far better passer. CJ owns the midrange. Their combo is absolutely sick. Don't break it up before we see that they'll actually fail.

I like Dame and CJ. Steph is better than Dame on both sides of the ball, and Klay is close but different than CJ on offense, but much better on defense--for now.

I don't think Olshey is thinking very far into the future; I think he wants a team by next year that can win at least one playoff series. I think the only way he would trade CJ now or later is as part of a trade for a guy who makes an immediate impact; somebody who is as good or better than anyone now on the roster.

Would you trade C.J. McCollum for Kristaps Porzingis?

Ok look this is a simple thing.... The primary goal of a rebuild is to bring in young players that can eventually given a reasonable window of time be a competitive team. Once the roster is populated as such there is no benefit to taking a potential step backwards. The way Neil has built this team and the way it is progressing organically this team is competing for a playoff spot realistically 2 years ahead of schedule. The core is basically <25 . The other thing that is vital us chemistry this team has grown together as a team, its a big risk to make a big adjustment that shakes that up much.

Lets look at the Okafor "idea" yes we get a little younger yet, and we get a guy with a lot of potential, this is a trade I would consider for CJ, but what is the ramifications?

A: We now have to start Henderson or Crabbe and Frazier then needs to be in the top 8 of the rotation.
    B: We lose 1 pt per 36, and 3ast per 36 but gain 4rp36
C: We create a massive Log Jam at the 4/5 positions, especially with Vonleh starting to really show competence.

You can bet that Rasheed would have been down with that idea. Just CTC and he'd let you tattoo his butt.

No, what prevents New Oreleans from trading CJ is that he is not a member of their team.

CJ being one of the best young players in the league prevents NO from trading him.

With all due respect, why not? CJ is great scorer but Porzingis has size, range and a far higher ceiling.
