Does anyone think Root Sports (which used to be the channel they were on when it was FSN Northwest) would have any interest in getting them back? Down here at least it plays Jazz games, and you can't think those get too many viewers in the Northwest. I know the Mariners own part of the channel, so that would probably be a hindrance. Some sort of Roku/Apple Tv channel would be very welcome. Unless I'm mistaken they have an opportunity to be the first sports team to do something like that, get ahead of the curb. But yeah, simply becoming available on a satellite service would be great too so we could dump shitty cable services like Charter that regularly has half of the channels not working at any given time, including the Blazer channel.
ROOT also plays some Timbers too, I think it isnt CSNNW it will be ROOT. I just don't see it any other way realistically.
I'm out in the sticks and we can stream games in western Lane county no problem with just a DSL modem
Fox Sports offered the Blazers $4mill a year for 4 years. Comcast offered $10mill a year for 10 years. I'm guessing Comcast will offer $20mill a year for 10 years. And if they do the Blazers will agree to anything Comcast wants. Root, Fox Sports, Streaming, no one else can offer anything close to what Comcast can.
Blazers ran a $5mill deficit last year, this new TV contract will be what finally makes this small market franchise turn a profit. Making Paul Allen happy and getting a fat bonus is what is important.
The blazers are a business, not a charity. People will support them even if they dance with the devil
Paul Allen makes up for loses with Blazers with major profits with the Seahawks, I really doubt money is an issue to him. Especially 5m which is basically a drop in the bucket.
