I don't get it either. Rubio seems to be a good fit with Towns and Wiggins. The only thing I can think of is they want cJ. Pair him with Zach Lavine at guards and move Wiggins to SF. Make sense for Minny, but not us.

I like his passing ability, and he can get steals, but your sacrificing a lot offensively, he's a sub 30% 3pt shooter and sub 40% from 2pt range. That's very bad.

Players tend to shoot better from 3 when they come to Portland though.

Oh so he might overachieve and hit a whopping 40%?

I don't really want the ball out of CJ's hands. He's much better on the ball than off it-- it's why Terry staggers his and Dame's mins.

Our bench units is one of the most potent in the league as is -- no need to change that.

It is quite good already BUT to get us to championship level (of course we need this w/ the starters too:wink:)... we need a slight tweak.

That's because our Starters play much less than they did last year.
I like Rubio, I like him in a Tim Frazier role and I think even if Tim Frazier would get a chance to play that role we'd be much better.
I wouldn't offer more than absorbing his salary (cause I personally think Frazier is a very good option) but would consider doing so if only because Stotts needs a price tag next to a player to give him a decent chance.

What makes you think any of that with Frazier? I can't think of one great pass he's made all year. All he does is over dribble and stall the offense. Maybe he can get better, but right now he doesn't belong on the court. Or even on the roster really.

If you guys think Frazier can be as effective as Rubio you are flat out delusional. Rubio would be a massive upgrade over Frazier and could even be considered a 6th man talent wise over our bench guys.

a Rubio/Crabbe backcourt off the bench would be insane. Honestly the only memorable play from Frazier all year has been his silly dancing.

Sure Rubio has a weakness, he is a poor shooter. But he has some very elite BB skills that we need.

Rubio makes a positive impact on defense. He is one of the best PGs in the league defensively.

Rubio has one of the best assist to turnover ratios in the entire league.

Rubio is a good free throw shooter.

Rubio makes a positive impact on offense. He makes the other players around him better.

I like Rubio coming off of the bench with Dame & CJ starting. Rubio would make a positive impact, Frazier, not so much.

Would I make a trade for Rubio before the deadline? We do not know what the trade would involve. I suspect Minny would want more than just cap space relief. My guess is one of our bigs would be involved, probably a PF.

Rubio is an interesting and entertaining player, so if we simply get him for a salary hit, that could be cool. He's got 3 years left after this season, averaging 14 mil per year and he's only 25.

games playd by season: 41,57,82,22,48. So he's missed extended time in all but 2 seasons.

I agree...I like Rubio's passing and court vision a lot. I think when we acquired Montero, Stotts and Olshey said they planned to develop his pt guard skills and said his talent level is off the charts, but it'll take a couple years to get him up to speed. The assistant coaching staff is supposedly focused on making him a contributor down the road...I'm actually excited about his future and Cliff Alexanders plus they are on really cheap contracts and both really, really young
