If we sign a big free agent this summer, who would you renounce?

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by PtldPlatypus, Feb 19, 2016.

?

Who would you renounce to accommodate a big free-agent signing?

  1. Gerald Henderson--he's going to command too much for an aging, athleticism-reliant, backup guard

    37.5%
  2. Maurice Harkless--he's too inconsistent to be a reliable rotation player on a championship team

    4.2%
  3. Meyers Leonard--he's never going to develop the mental side of the game necessary to make an impact

    33.3%
  4. Harkless if we sign a wing, Leonard if we sign a big

    8.3%
  5. Henderson if we sign a wing, Leonard if we sign a big

    12.5%
  6. I couldn't possibly care less--none of them are really worth a damn.

    4.2%

If it's down to Crabbe or Leonard...I sign Crabbe....there...and Kaman coming off the books does open up cap space..I too renounce Satan just so I can keep up with the required content here

Please don't--too many Godfather-related posts in my thread and Denny might move it to the OT section.

Why isn't Crabbe listed in the poll?

Kaman's departure is already taken into account in the numbers above, and Crabbe's miniscule cap hold is assumed to be kept. The question is between Henderson, Harkless, and Leonard, who comprise $24M of cap holds between them. Crabbe's cap hold is too small to significantly impact cap space.

Leonard. I don't love him, but that may change.

Regardless, that's not the reason we won't sign him. It's because someone is going to offer him $16 mil/year, and Neil won't match.

Crabbe's cap hold is almost nothing. Renouncing his rights would be moronic.

OK, I'll bite: why would you let Crabbe go and go keep one of those other guys?

What I WANT... is to keep Crabbe, CJ, Dillard, Davis, Noah, and Plums as our core. No more attempts to trade them.

As for the rest, I could take or leave them, but I'll take the cannoli.

I'll go Crabbe, CJ, Lillard, Davis, Aminu, and Plums as our core. So, I basically agree.

Shit I knew I was forgetting someone! But Aminu for me could be interchanged with other wing men of similar style (there are a few out there).

I would be fine with Aminu coming off the bench. I think he's a perfect bench guy. I'm just not thrilled with him as the starter.

To me, Vonleh hasn't shown enough. It's not obvious that he has a high ceiling. I'm still intrigued, but he may never be as good as Aminu is right now. Hence, not in my core.

Well, when we get Paul George and Kevin Durant for second round draft picks and cash, he can stay or go.

You've got it backwards, we're SIGNING Kevin Durant and we're TRADING second round picks and cash for Paul George.
