Ah! I see. I remember Kentucky Fried Chicken from a restaurant, the Blue Ox in Lexington Kentucky in the 60's. I always sort of thought it was the original place of Colonel Sanders, but not so I read. Just one of his mid career endeavors. Anyway the Fried Chicken served there was really very good, the good like you come back for more kind. Then years later, the Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken places opened in Oregon. The first I remember was in Oregon City when I lived in West Linn. They had not yet shortened the name to KFC but they sure as hell had shortened the taste of the chicken by the same name I had in Lexington. The kind you never want to come back for more. I can alway tell when we are within a block of one, not a good sign.
The last time I went to KFC was about 14 years ago. My friend had a fried chicken head in his meal, beak and all. We went and showed it to all of the other customers and got asked to leave.
Also, I like the idea of blazers doing local food reviews, but Casey just doesn't have enough personality to be on video. It could have been really fun with the right questions.
If I wanted fried chicken I would always go to Reel em Inn. So fucking good. Now that I am in Florida, I have to find my new go to. Can't wait to move back to portland.
I go to a Japanese place downtown Eugene and their Orange Chicken is the bomb...The batter is crisp but not that disgusting rancid oil pocket crap you get in fast food joints...big portions and no pool of oil on the plate when you're finished. I prefer baked chicken to fried chicken otherwise
