I've got a feeling, were going to miss Warren and Wilson....? I hope I'm wrong, but I can't ignore this 'gut feeling'; quality middle relievers may be more necessary than this team is built for....with questionable SP holes.... If anyone really believes CC is returning to Glory, I'd say that person is suffering "delusions de grandeur"..... and, I don't expect much out of Pineda or Nova, ntm- probable health issues for one or the other....
I'm really looking forward to seeing what Severino can do in a full season, I just hope the Yankees can give him run support.
...like I said a couple of weeks ago, in a perfect storm, yeah, this team can win but will they? Everything would have to go perfectly for it to happen...but as of now, I just see way too many unanswered questions...just as many as last year at this time.
Saw video of "Biggie" being interviewed yesterday. After answering questions about his leaving the team last year he went on to say he loved his team mates and the organization. I'd love the organization to if they paid me the big bucks for shoddy performance and a seemingly legit escape clause. He then went on to state he "felt good" well so did James Brown and his record was a hell of a lot better than Biggies over the past three seasons. What was that old line about ifs and buts being candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas.
I've no doubt that somewhere in Vegas there's a pool going on as to who will be the 1st Yankee to fall (DL) & honestly there are just to many candidates to choose from. Tex, CC, Beltran Elsbury, Eovaldi, Pineda, Tanaka or A-Roid.
...part of my disgust with the way the current roster is constructed is that because of poor contracts handed out in the past are now ham-stringing the Yanx. The ONLY reason they did not pursue the type of impact FAs they might have is because in most cases there was no place to put them because of so many current roster spots tied up by Tex, ARod, CC, Beltran, and to a degree, Headley and Ellsbury whose contracts will also look bad going forward. ...and Cashman's claim that "the plan" was to get younger and more athletic is in a way, a red herring....I mean, realistically, by default, the team had to get younger no matter what moves were made because they were so damned old to begin with...after Mo and Jeter retired the team was still left encumbered with other aging vets who were locked in to ill-advised contracts. (ARod, Tex, CC, and Beltran)...so again, just about any new player acquisition would result in the team's average age dropping. ...and will the "experts" please just stop with "the Yanx are just laying low so they can land Bryce Harper 3 years from now " BS ? 1. they act as if the Yanx would be the only team with a chance to sign him 2. they think the Yanx are putting the team's current plans on hold for a player they may or may not sign 3 years from now? ...this kind of twisted logic is dumb founding to me.
Ron I agree, Planing on a player that MANY teams will be looking at a few years from now (Harper) had absolutely NOTHING to do with the team not pulling the trigger on any big name FAs. $37M comes off the books after this season on just Tex & Beltran alone so I do see more movement on FAs in 2017.
^^^...yup, and the sad thing is that because of foolish contract moves by management, we've been forced to watch a lesser quality Yanx team than we are accustomed.

Wallace Mathews.....lol.......I'm sure he's trying to be intellectually honest as he points to a couple of "possible" issues with the Yanks and their bullpen/lineup. What he failed to point out is also a very real possibility of MANY games becoming a battle of bullpens when the Yanks DON'T necessary have to have a lead as they enter the final 3-4 innings AND STILL WIN BECAUSE OF THEIR THREE ACE RELIEVERS HOLDING THE OTHER TEAM DOWN AS THE YANKS GET TO THEIR "BULLPENS" - ........I'm sure there will be games when the Yanks are trailing by a couple of runs (1-3?) as they enter the last 3,4 innings and in MY opinion our bullpen for the last 3,4 innings will win out over MOST other bullpens with the Yankee lineup getting to THEIR bullpens more often then THEY get to our pen. And as far as middle relief, (missing Wilson and Warren) --- Yanks have a few good young live arms who have already gotten their feet wet in pressure games....Pinder, Goody Rumbelow, Shreve (who was burnt out by September, won't need to be this year)....ect.....and lefty strikeout machine Jacob Lindgren back in the fold. These are just as "real" good possibilities as a the other side of her coin. And the Yankee offense can still hold their own even if Tex and/or Arod falter due to injury/old age.......is it written in stone the Yanks WON'T/CAN'T pick up added offense in 2016 from the combination of 2b,3b,Cf,RF,LF and just maybe Gregorius and quite possibly Sanchez can step up and provide more consistent offense from the opening bell? Are these pipe dreams? Some say YES, others say WHY NOT?
...or the other explanation is maybe we're just bad Yankee fans...perhaps we should buy a pair of those homeriffic and omnipresent silver lining sun glasses.
