72 and 61 coming back to back against 2 of the best defenses in the league is pretty darn impressive.
I wonder where 133 points combined over consecutive games ranks for NBA starting backfires backcourt tandems. Never mind: Curry/Thompson have probably beaten that this year...
They haven't actually...but they have gotten close. In consecutive road games vs Charlotte and Toronto on December 2nd and 5th they totaled 131 points...and 130 points Jan 31st and February 3rd against the Knicks and wizards. But they have reached at least 112 points in consecutive games 12 times this season which is pretty impressive... Still the Blazers 133 stands as the highest points from a NBA backcourt in consecutive games this season
Kobe Bryant and Smush Parker combined for 141 points in consecutive games on January 22nd, 2006 and Jan 27, 2006...of course that is only because Kobe scored 81 points on the 22nd against the Raptors...Kobe and Smush were not really a great backcourt duo...
Pistol Pete Maravich and Mo Howard combined for 137 on 2/25/77 and 2/27/77 aganst the Knicks and Spurs respectively...though again that one rides on Maravich's career high 68 and an encore of 40...
So so far, you can't find an instance of a backcourt duo combining for more than 132 points over consecutive games without one of those guys having at least 100 of those.
Now go to the next level--find a backcourt duo who has scored over 200 points in 3 games? CJ/Dame have combined for 201 points over the past 3.
What site were you using to come up with the historical 133+ over 2 games figures earlier in this thread? I'd love to search myself, but I'm not sure where to go.
