I mostly shop at Fred Meyers but sometimes I stop at Safeway. Holy chit, the prices have skyrocketed since Albertsons bought Safeway, not just a few cents, I'm talking things that used to cost $2 now costing $4. It's hilarious. Is this Albertsons raising the prices at Safeway to be inline with theirs or is this Albertsons jacking the prices in both stores? Has anyone else noticed this?
Naw! Obama says it is not. And he backs it up, sends me the same SS check again this year. Prices haven't increased since he became President and the rise of the Oceans began to recede... along with the cost of living.
I like Winco but it's a circus, so many people. Luckily there is a new one getting ready to open closer to me. It's worth going once a month, things like Tillamook cheese and dog food are much cheaper but I've never tried their meat.
It always cracks me up when you bitch about not getting enough from your guberment socialist program. Feel the Bern, MarAzul. Feel the Bern.
I like Fred Meyers myself. Their prices, while increasing, are still much cheaper than Safeway/Albertsons. Safeway was always more $$ (cept when you use their member card thing...which was always a stupid thing. It's free, but saves you money. Why not have it for everyone then?) but Albertsons was always even higher than Safeway, so I'm not surprised their prices are going up once they're under Albertsons control. Anyone who shopped at Albertsons (in a city that also had a Fred Meyers) was, imho, just too damn lazy to drive to a Fred Meyer. I like WinCo, but they are super crowded and I'm not sure that the price differences off-set that annoyance. I kind of like Cash-N-Carry too. Though they're kind of very specialized for stuff. They're Costco for us cheap bastards.
Ah, that's it! Albertsons closed the door in North Bend. The is a Safeway in both NB and Coos Bay, prices went up like hell in both. Then Freddy too but not as much. Don't get the discount on gas at Safeway anymore either, often the Safeway pump in Florence was the cheapest in Oregon with the discount. Still the have the card but useless now.
Why haven't you had winco meat? It's fine. I worked for winco in corvallis while going to osu. It's such a nicer winco than the ones in Portland metro area. Winco produce doesn't last long, Fred Meyers is much better. But I'll still buy winco produce if I'm there. Winco is the only way to go. It's not bad if you go anytime other than Saturday or sunday. Friday around 5 can be dicey, bit If you go Friday night around 8 it's not bad. Safeway and Albertsons are only good for buying a couple things. I also like some of the meat deals they have for buy 1 get 2 free.
Well the whole fucking thing is and extremely bad puppeteer show you know! It really does need to be put to sleep. I feel obligated to let you know, I think it sucks! Feel the Bern? No no no... wrong take.
Oh Fizz, I'm so disappointed in you. You're an accountant. How.... Why.... The buy 1 get 2 free is such a jack. They raise the price per pound up to a stupid amount. Meat that is $8/lb at the meat counter is $18/lb in their buy one get one. Even higher in their buy 1 get 2 special.
Haggen's bought up the Safeway down here and immediately put it out of business, so now the only stores to shop at are the overpriced Alberstons, Wallie World, Fred Meyer, and a local Southern Oregon chain that has mice all over it.
The nearest Winco to me is the one on 82ave. It's really busy and the store seems a little dirty. I like the meat at Costco.
You know you've reached geezerhood if you're shopping at Winco at 8:00 on a Friday evening......Getting old is hell, isn't it???
Yep, Fred Meyer is the only place to shop at if you don't want to run into white trash, Walmart is covered with them.
I've always been an old soul. Liked going out with my buddies in college and till I was like 25, then I got burnt out. I get sleepy at like 9pm nowadays.
Lol I know. I've had another accountant friend lose his shit when I said I like buying it. Here's the thing. I only buy the meat that is the cheapest for that offer, so I'll get like three packages of the three chicken breast packages for like $9. It's fast and easy for grilling since it's already flavored, and I live like 3 blocks from albertsons.
But now that stores don't have to disclose where meat is being processed and packaged I look at that chicken and think Mexican processing plant.
Probably. I used to eat tilapia as a cheap protein. But it tastes like sand and after hearing about fish ponds in vietnam and China from my dad and stepmother, I'm no longer interested.
