The meat counter at the Freddy's on Hawthrone is awesome! Clean, cut and processed on site, all of their sausage is made there. It's similar to Gartner's at about 1/3rd the price.
Follow up to Sly's Feel the Bern! I was watching a program on "Link" about White Privilege this morning, only could take it about 20 minutes, just one line of bull shit after another... One of them was about the good old days and when ever white dip shit thought that was...? 1957, then they went on to show how flawed the thinking is. Lower taxes, No, the top rate was 92% Now that was real, 92%, I think Kennedy managed to get it lowered to 70 or 74%. Yes this was my privilege to live with most of the years I worked. I never paid 70% percent, that was on tall bucks, but the tax rate climbed there pretty fast. I do remember paying 67% and that was on something over 65 thousand. No IRA accounts to protect any, no 401K to protect anything, no deduction for college expenses for you kids. Damn it man, 67% Federal, 11% State, 8% fica at work and 15% on self employment leave bugger all nothing to save. The only savings of significants was the SS promise. I sure as hell knew this was a bad friggin bargain, but it was the way it was. Now Sly comes of age and chides me for collecting the SS. Ha! I sure would have like to change the system back went the money was coming but no fucking way. It boggles my mind that anyone wiith half a brain would opt to take that system back again. Feel the Bern! You will, but then just maybe, Trump will save your dumb asses.
Yeah winco is my favorite. Costco is good too. If I had to choose a third it would be Fred meyers. They are building a new Freddie's in happy valley. The massive Fred Meyers in gresham is awesome. They have one of the best beer selections I've seen in a store. If there is a new beer out I haven't been able to find they usually have it. Went there last night a got a six pack of elysian Hawaiian sunburn pineapple Habanero sour beer
I used to purchase good quality meat at Haggen in Tualatin years ago. Now, I go to Costco or Winco. Typically there's fewer people shopping in the morning and the meat has usually been restocked with the discounted meat usually off to the side. Sometimes you can find great deals on beef brisket! For my fresh fruit and vegetables I go to a farmer's market or pick-your-own food farms and orchards.
Safeway is Von's here. Haggens bought the Albertsons stores, converted them to Haggens and the closed them.
Went to WinCo in McMinnville yesterday. The cleanest WinCo I've been to. Prices are so much cheaper there than most other grocery stores. Pretty solid meat selection, actually, with a selection of no-hormones-added meats and what not. I also like to shop at the local Mexican grocery stores.
This cracks me up because anyone who's lived for years in Hawaii knows that everyone there drinks Bud Lite in a bucket..(with ice) ..Hawaiians are the least likely folks I know to buy any trendy beers
You sure about that? I have a buddy that lived there for 6 years and is my age. On the big Island they are big into those beers now. Ever hear of kona brewing company?
yup, and in the 7 years I lived in Hilo...the locals scoff at that shit...maybe tourists or temp residents buy it but I'm talkin' Hawaiians...personally I hate Bud Lite
I dont deny it. But my buddy who is 30, lived there for many years from 2006-2012. When did you live there? Things change, and different demographics. Cause he went to university of Hawaii and worked for the city of honolulu.
