If Lillard is going to take the next step in his career, he's got to improve his shot selection. I'm getting tired of seeing him jack up off-balance shots from 35 feet while hoping to get fouled. He can be a very exciting scorer when he's hot, but too often his poor shot selection hurts us. He also tries for the near-impossible layup too often when he should just take what the defense gives him.
Spot on Binx. Last week I praised the man for a game where he performed very well, posting an A/M of 2.0 instead of his normal average of .65. Tonight, his game is reflected in the A/M of .5. That is really bad for a guard, let alone your PG.
Lillard and CJ's scoring weren't a problem tonight. They combined for 49 points. The team scored 110 points. Defense is the problem. It's the only problem. Spurs scored at will. We haven't played great D in awhile. Hopefully, we can fix that soon.
I didn't hear any complaining when he was reeling off 30+ games. We have no offense. We have two guys that can score. He's taking shots because he's one of two guys that can actually take shots.
You obviously haven't been watching the games. Offense is not our problem. We have a fabulous offense. We dropped 61 on the Warriors in the first half in their building. The problem is they scored 81. Tonight, we dropped 110 points on the Spurs' supposedly great defense. I don't know why you are focusing on our offense. We have a championship offense. We need championship defense.
Most in here, and most NBA fans really only concentrate on offense. Even though the idiom defense wins championships prevails, most people only think of good players as people who can put the ball in the basket.
None of our big men are very good on offense. When they aren't getting after people on defense, they really aren't contributing.
When it is #LillardTime, it is insane. However, when you contrast that with his overall shooting %, his 5-6 and 4-4 stretches are offset by 1-7 and 2-8 stretches. If he could be a bit more efficient in the down times, the #LillardTime boosts would make him a very efficient players. As of now, he is around 42% overall and even with the increase in effective FG% from his '3's, 42% is still not very good.
Sounds like he's been fighting a cold. If it's anything like what's been going around Portland, it's not fun.
