Yep i did exactly the same thing. The decision if available would be Parsons no question. And he is 27 years old so he fits with the team.
I assume he's trying to point out perceived homer-based hypocrisy in @dviss1 not wanting Parsons or Anderson due to defensive shortcomings, but being OK with Leonard despite the same. HOWEVER, what BGD is too myopic to notice is that dviss' post actually said he doesn't want any of the 3 on the team, which clearly includes Leonard. So basically, BGD's post was not only barely intelligible, but also a complete fail in content.
If the choice is between these three players I would not be upset with Neil spending money on Nic Batum. I would much rather have him then any of them. Money be damned. The caps going up next year who gives a shit? It ain't my money.
Well yeah it wouldn't hurt next year. But problem would be in 4 years when Nic is earning $35 million, Dame, CJ are both on max deals and we have no flexibility. The cap is going up the next two years but then it will actually go down the year after; meanwhile those guaranteed max contracts keep going up. Maybe it would ultimately be a good move but it certainly has a chance of being a horrific contract at that time.
Link? I've never even heard of the salary cap going down. And even if it did go down why would Max contracts go up if they are to be a percentage of the cap?
Didn't the "I wouldn't want any of the 3" post from dviss not ring a bell? Oh, right, we are talking about BGD. My bad.
Max contracts are only a percentage of the cap in year 1. In year 2,3,4 they increase up to 7.5% from the previous season regardless of changes in the cap. So a max contract will be increasing while the cap is decreasing. The cap going down was everywhere when projections came out last year. Zach Lowe has mentioned it multiple times. It's projected to go up to $108 million in 2017 then drop $8 million the following year. Probably just because those are the years TV money was structured to be more or less. http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/4/17/8447839/nba-salary-cap-projection-free-agency-2016-2017
Its not a cost for LaMarcus because he can get more money a year earlier on his next contract and he's an all-star. I have a hard time believing Batum expects to cash in more than $158 million he can grab from Charlotte. For the sake of argument even if he did leave all that money it would be for an NY, LA type of market. I can't see him leaving a ton of money on the table with a playoff team to return to the team that didn't want him.
I dunno if im sold on any of them TBH We need to sort out the starting lineup. Getting a SF would just complicate things even more, we have enough cover at that spot with aminu, henderson, crabbe, harkless etc We need to figure out WTF is happening @ PF more than anything, and it sure as shit isn't Meyers Leonard. maybe a Dame, CJ, Crabbe, Aminu, Plum or Dame, CJ, Aminu, Davis, Plum could work, but we need to first figure out the core starting unit - long haul unit - and fill the gaps around that. arbitrarily adding random people is a bad move. we still need a legit starting PF & a solid backup PG.
Ryan Anderson for me. Perfect PF for th Stotts system. Both players are pretty much on the same tier.
He's an unrestricted FA at the end of the season. I understand also the guys listed are being called 'PF's but cmon now.... I don't want a stretch PF or one that camps on the 3 and cant rebound, or wont hit the boards with determination. I want a banger, paint dwelling, pick setting, key enforcing, hard, traditional PF.
Are you from 1984? Those players are out of the league or ineffective. I want whoever gives us the best chance to win.
