Seems the arena actually is government property, run by government appointees, paid for by tax dollars. The Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex is a multipurpose campus located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It comprises two sports facilities, a transitional space known as Gateway Plaza, and two parking garages. The complex is primarily situated between East 9th Street to the east, Huron Road to the north (although Gateway North parking garage is across Huron), Ontario Street to the west, and Carnegie Avenue to the south. The sports venues are Progressive Field, which is the home of Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians, and Quicken Loans Arena, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association. The complex is owned by the city and is managed by the Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland. The organization's board members are appointed by county and city leaders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_Sports_and_Entertainment_Complex The arena, along with neighboring Progressive Field and an adjacent parking garage, is owned by the Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland, an entity made up of members appointed by the governments of the city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicken_Loans_Arena
SMH. They'd choose one that allows guns. The Secret Service can try to stop them, but it would go to court. Probably to SCOTUS. That constitution you hate gets in the way of government overreaching.

Court documents from that 2015 incident describe Dawson as a 66-year-old man from Tennessee. In that incident, according to the documents, Dawson "loudly stated to Congress he was a 'prophet of God.' I was in the Social Security office last month. Took my number and waited, waited about 40 figgin minutes with one window operating out of four. When my number was call, I started up to the window, then a guard came an asked me if I had any weapons? I said no. He said do you have a pocket knife? I said yes. He said go leave it some where and come back. I did, started the routine over again. This ain't right.
I'm sure when a candidate agrees to Secret Service protection he agrees to follow their rules. If gun owners wanted to hold an open carry convention across the street from the Republican convention I doubt any of the candidates would be allowed to go.
