The list of players not cheating on their wives/GF's is probably MUCH shorter than the list of players who are. You better believe it's a big deal if someone breaks rules 1 and 2 of Fuck Club.
Just seems like a double standard given how much people were shitting on that girl Kyrie was with for cheating, and literally no one is talking bad about Swaggy.
Two wrongs don't make a right. Cheating in a relationship destroys trust within that relationship. Secretly video taping a teammate and posting it online destroys trust with all your teammates. Nobody wants to be in a relationship with someone they don't trust. Nobody wants to play with a teammate they don't trust. Russell's actions didn't just undermine his relationship with Nick Young, it destroyed his relationship with all of his teammates. Russell just alienated everyone in that locker room, and other locker rooms around the league. He's not just a snitch. He's an idiot. BNM
Absolutely it is! Welcome to Bro World*, where Bros Rule! *Bro World includes the media, most of the world, and male sports teams.
And yet, Swaggy P is getting off the hook here as a victim. The lack of trust between him and A WOMAN is being ignored while everyone is upset about Russell's lack of trust with another man. Bro code, for bros only.
Eh, but that's oversimplifying the situation. It's not like Russell and Young are besties and Russell let Young's fiancee know that he's cheating. He recorded Young and then made it public. That's just extremely dirty. These guys are coworkers who spend a lot of time together. Their success hinges on things like chemistry and trust, so by breaking that trust he has thrown that entire roster into upheaval. If you're an employer and one of your employees created a ton of drama which is not work related, but is affecting your ability to be productive, how would you proceed? I would trade him. There were a number of ways he could have gone about this privately without creating this shit storm, but he chose the absolute worst option.
If this were a fidelity fan forum, then I'm sure Young's unfaithfulness would be the major focus. But it's not--it's a sports forum. These guys are professional athletes, not professional monogamists. They're famous because of their ability to function as part of a basketball team, not because of their ability to function as part of a committed relationship. It only stands to reason that the action that directly reflects on and impacts their ability to do what they're paid and famous for would be the action under the greatest scrutiny.
Yeaaaahhhhh it's simplified but seriously nobody is giving a fuck about the fact that Swaggy is fucking teens on the side while engaged to a woman, because, frankly, that's expected out of the culture.
There are moralists who believe in the sanctity of marriage. And there are us anti-Religious Rightists who would like to see the end of the institution of marriage. There are manhaters, most of whom are men. And there are those of us who see manhatred as the source of all other inequalities. As long as the system enforces the biggest inequality, you'll never stop the smaller ones like racism, the class system, etc. But you guys are missing the point, which is...a Civil War has just begun among the Lakers! So whoever is right or wrong... WHEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHH !!!
Everyone knows athletes fuck loads of people on the side, and it's more important to everyone that the monolithic bro shield is maintained. That's fucking stupid. Maybe it's because they're both Lakers, but i want both of them to be immolated over this, not just the guy who revealed that Nick Young was a scumbag through scumbag activity himself.
Which is why we don't give a shit about Kobe in Denver, and don't bring it up OVER and OVER... Seriously, your post is stupid.
Swaggy isn't the victim - the rest of the team is. If I were a member of the Fakers, I wouldn't have a very high opinion of Young - but I would want to kick Russell's ass for making me deal with the media drama.
Wasn't Kobe considered a social recluse back in the day? Looks like he's teaching D'Angelo something. Like I said earlier, only person I feel bad for is Iggy, because she deserves better. But all this turmoil in LA does warm my heart a bit. Great way to send Kobe into the sunset.
Seriously, it's not a bout the "bro shield". It's about basketball, or more generally, personal vested interest. Do you (or anyone else in here) have even the slightest vested interest in Nick Young's ability to remain faithful to Iggy Azalea? Probably not. Do you have even the slightest vested interest in D'Angelo Russell's adherence to the bro code amongst his buddies? Not at all. Does Nick Young's fidelity (or lack thereof) impact the Lakers ability to lose lots of games? Doubtful. Do you have a vested interest in D'Angelo Russell sabotaging his relationships with his teammates and likely inhibiting the Lakers' rebuild? You betcha. We only care about the "bro code" when in affects the sport.
