Y'all can keep defending AV all you want, but this team will continue to regress under him. It's what happened in Vancouver when teams figured out his system, and it's what's happening right in front of our eyes here in New York. You guys can keep defending him, but I've watched ALL hockey for my whole life, not just this team. I've seen what AV did in Vancouver when they were great, and then what they became when teams figured him out and he got chased out of Vancouver. It's what we are seeing. Poor defensive zone coverage leaving goalies out on an island and getting burned out. Forwards not committing to defense and not back checking and flying the zone as soon as a dman touched the puck and resulting in a turnover. Ask Vancouver fans if they were happy to see him go at the end and you'll get a resounding yes. Is what it is because he's not going anywhere unless we miss the playoffs.
Well, if they can chip another one in in the next few minutes this will get interesting but 4-2 is still a big hill to climb
Zatkoff is terrible, lifetime minor leaguer. How they have managed not to win this game is beyond me.
It still doesn't account for Girardi and Staal playing like they are. It's killing this team. If they were on their game nobody would be complaining about any systems.
AV isn't adapting his game plan to their declining skills. Focus more on defense. Sadly, play a more Torts style game where you focus 100% on defense and try to win 1-0, which you should be able to do with Hank especially if you focus on defense instead of trying to FLY out of the zone immediately and not give your dmen someone to pass to in the zone and force the dmen to pass down the ice, which is NOT Girardi or Staal's strength and not having Boyle out there who simply cannot keep up with the speed nor the physical aspect. AV has made his bed with Boyle, so he is the only one to blame for that crap. AV just needs to bite the bullet and stop forcing this team into something they're not, which is an offensive force. They're a defensive team that needs to focus on being solid in the defensive zone and letting the offense come from that.
Regardless of anything, the Rangers didn't deserve this game. They were outplayed by a third string goalie and out coached by an ex assistant coach whom they could have hired when they got rid of Torts. Kind of ironic, no?
Like I said to my buddies last offseason, Nash NEEDS to go. Eat his whole fucking contract, who cares. Just get him off of this fucking team. He's teaching these young power forwards Hayes and Kreider and even Miller to coast and not go to the center of the ice.
