The Blazers have no chance to win this series. I've moved on from hoping the Blazers can compete.
    The Clippers have:
    ++ The vastly superior center
++ The vastly superior power forward
+ The superior two way point guard
= An extremely effective shooting guard evenly matched to ours
= A defensive small forward in A Moute
= A smart effective coach (even if annoying as hell)
= Productive role players and bench players.
Maybe we can have an advantage with our bench players for a game or two. Maybe CJ can outplay Redick for one game. Maybe one of their stars gets outplayed by a stater of ours for one game. In the end its just not going to happen in enough matchups at the same time for this to be a competitive series. If Griffin was hobbled we had a chance; he's not.

The rest of the series I'll be interested to see if we have any young players step up in the last few games as CJ and Meyers did last year.

It was a hell of a fun season. Glad we made the playoffs. I'm excited for what moves we do in free agency and the offseason.

    1. Do the Blazers trade for a pick in the draft?
    2. Does Neil go after a starting level free agent?
    3. Does Neil go after value free agents?
    4. Do we lose any of Meyers/Hendo/Crabbe/Harkless?
    5. Do we explore the trade market?
    6. What Blazer will make the biggest improvement next season?

So, what kind of response are you expecting from those of us still enjoying the playoffs? There's plenty of off-season to come and all kinds of time to play GM. While I don't give the Blazers much chance of winning the series, I do think that they can win a game or two. I also enjoy watching them battle through adversity to help figure out which guys are keepers and which ones I wouldn't mind seeing let go this summer.

Have whatever response you want. I'm interested if some posters agree with me and have arrived at similar conclusions. If a poster has a contrasting rebuttle and writes a well thought out post I'm interested to read that as well. You have a fine outlook in how you're going to watch the team.

For me it's a lot more enjoyable to watch the team from a realistic perspective and think of what we could improve on next season.

I predicted our team wouldn't even make the playoffs. They've already surpassed my initial season expectations.

With that said, win or lose in these playoffs, I'm hoping they're at a high competitive level over the next few games while keeping me entertained.

I honestly have no clue what Olshey is going to do. We don't have either a draft pick or the assets to pull off a major deal. (unless it involves Dame or CJ) My best guess is that he makes another "Moneyball" type FA signing that only slightly moves the needle. So...

    1. No
    2. Tries, but unlikely.
    3. Yes
    4. Yes
    5. Yes, but without success.
    6. Plumlee...maybe...(grasping at straws)

I believe the Blazers have a chance to win this series. I'm hardly looking towards next season at this point.

I hate when people speak in absolutes when it comes to sports. There is never a team with "no chance". Just like the Clippers announcer who looks like a fool now.. "unlikely to win" is more like it..

If you want to insert "reasonable" between no and chance is that more to your liking? That's the same level of certainly we use to lock someone away in a prison for life.

I'd give us the same chance the Lakers had of making the playoffs. It wasn't reasonably possible. Yeah there were people betting millions of dollars on the Lakers to win the championship. Both beliefs are delusional.

Dude. Clippers choked in playoffs last year (to the fucking Rockets!) We have beaten the Clippers this year. Even Mavs, who lost by 38 in game 1, came back to win game 2. It's a long series. Don't quit now. In 1994, Sonics destroyed Nuggets in Games 1 & 2, but lost the series. There are many examples of teams who had "no chance" but won the series. Enjoy this now. Then worry about the offseason.

If it wan't true the thread wouldn't hurt. Accept it; come to terms with the loss and move on. You'll feel better.

Umm the thread doesn't hurt me. I doubt it hurts VG. We just think it's wrong. You're a bad fan. Wait til the series ends until you come to terms with anything. Unless you're trying to jinx the Clippers. Then you're cool. Nonetheless, I'll bet you HCP's $100 we win the series.

I think we should just fold it up entirely. The Warriors and Spurs will win every championship for the next ten years, and then the Wolves will take over. There's no point in even trying. Why do we even get out of bed in the morning? Curry is probably better at our jobs than we are. He's a better actor than Kingspeed. He's a better AV nerd than HCP. He's better at wine making than Further. He's a better ref than Dviss. He's a better writer than me. He's a better lawyer than Ed O. He's a better ship builder than MaraZul. He's a better dog than SPD....... life just isn't worth living while Steph Curry is still out there being the best at everything.

I could care less if some people on this internet want to call me a bad fan. I follow every bit of news with the Blazers. I know a ton about the team. I root for them to win every game. I watch every minute of every game and a few of them twice. I have many insightful posts even if you disagree with this thread. I voice both my positive and negative outlooks with this team. I call it as I see it. If you want to root differently that's your right. But blindly believing the team will win every game no matter the circumstances doesn't make you a better fan.
