    He got his name "Rotten Joe" because one of his first business enterprises was selling moldy apples in New England. Housewives after buying his apples would shake their fists and curse "Rotten Joe." I guess politics was the final logical step. Winston Churchill hated every atom of the man and pleaded with FDR to remove him from England.
