How about we don't ban betting, just the after-bet public disagreements.

    My proposal:

It is OK to bet in the forum - but the only recognized forms of legal tender are booze, cigars, and sex.

Do YOU want to know what HCP considers $100 worth of sexual favors? Didn't think so!

You sound as though you speak from experience. If so, Did you have to have that bone surgically removed? And if so, did this impact Sly's future reproductive abilities?

Not sure what the best answer is. I do not like rules, but I also do not like people that refuse to keep their word, a deal is a deal, pay up.

One thing I have noticed. When someone is passionate about their opinion, often there is a lot of pressure placed on that person to back up his/her words with a bet. Very few of the wagers I have seen on forums have been made 100% willingly by both people. Often one person is pushed into the wager by the other using several baiting or taunting type posts. I never liked those types of posts.

Just speak your opinion and be cool. Who really gives a shit about others baiting or taunting? Is this high school all over again? :rocky:

Tough to say. During his somewhat hasty retreat he did stop to piddle on the rose bushes, so I'm guessing my aim was off.

Kingspeed notoriously goads people into it with his taunting of how much of a real fan he is, he taunts and pushes and prods relentlessly, and he's been doing it for years. I see people give in just to get him to shut up.

I would just tell everyone to get clear terms. Whenever I have made my bets, I do not leave any wiggle room and try to get all info in either an PM or post.

I PM'd all the parties in this fiasco to hopefully solve this and talk about basketball again.

If there's going to be a thread dedicated to it, please stick it in a different section of the forum - like those top threads that always stay in their own section at the top. I don't want this thread always showing up as un unread thread amongst the rest of the threads that I read.

I'd say all betting between forum members should be done by PM...then it's between them and only them. Problem solved.

    This, 100% this.
or perhaps give an option to block threads? I don't know if that is even possible.

That would be the best. There are often threads I have no interest in, and having them show up as an unread thread is annoying. #FWP

You can scroll to the top of the thread and on the top right corner of the thread pane there's an Unwatch Thread option..that's basically a block thread option so you can actually do that now

I mean like block a thread like one would block a poster.
Unfortunately you can still see the thread if it's not being watched.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I find betting a lot more fun if I can just not pay up. That frees me to bet my conscience...or, ideally, all sorts of ridiculous things that amuse me.
