NFL draft is coming up this week (yes @Strenuus, we know you don't care). Thought it might be good to have a thread for discussion thereof.
Vernon Adams was on the Dan Patrick show today, right at the beginning of the third hour, discussing how his height is being (in his mind) unfairly held against him in this year's draft process. Came out real fiery after a couple minutes. http://cdn46.castfire.com/audio/522/3386/25102/2736337/2736337_2016-04-25-124537-7770-0-36-0.64k.mp3?cdn_id=46&uuid=ccda9b572e6918e314a9a6cc106c5108&referer=http://www.podcastone.com/mobile/episode.jsp?progID=588&pid=1646031 I don't think interviews are going to change his draft stock at all, but I think his agent is doing a good job getting him the publicity he needs in advance of the draft.
I like Vernon. I think if he had stayed healthy, the Ducks would have had a really good chance of getting back to the playoff. With Vernon they were blowing out TCU. Without Vernon they blew a huge lead and lost the game. It was a perfect microcosm of the entire season.
I am curious what the Seahawks will do. Whether they trade down or not, I hope they grab a DT in the 1st or 2nd round. The D Line in this draft looks pretty deep.
If you like Vernon, go listen to that interview. You'll love him even more. Dan, the Danettes, and several tweeters/callers are commenting about how much they loved his fire.
I'm pretty sure my Packers will select one of the following three: 1. NT to replace Raji's departure from football (I think this is highly likely) 2. ILB so they can move Clay Matthews back to OLB and pressure QBs (This is likely if Ragland falls down to the 27th spot) 3. TE to revamp their receiving corps and give Rodgers another weapon (This would be a surprise if they selected Hunter Henry in the 1st round)
You like ragland? Im dreading oakland taking him. I dont think he will be very good. And ilb isnt extremely valuable unless you have a patrick willis which he is not. He tested out terribly as an athlete.
Ragland would be there to stop the run. The knock on him is his passing defense (his man cover skills). At least we would have Matthews back at his natural position pressuring QBs.
Oakland needs a mlb that can guard tight ends. So i dont think hes a good fit for us. I see him struggling mightily there.
Yeah, I can see your concern. Green Bay would be utilizing the 3-4 defensive scheme with Ragland going primarily after the running back. However, Capers may move the linebackers around similar to what he did with Matthews last season.
I love Vernon Adams but damn Im worried about him at the pro level. He was consistently hurt in college trying to get extra yards or make a last second throw. He can't scramble like Russell Wilson and doesn't have that high release point. My hope is the Jets trade out of the 20th and get some more picks. I'd love to see us pick up an edge rusher in the first and then use a second rounder on Christian Hackenburg. If Vernon's available in the 7th..... hell, why not! But we also need a punter.

Yeah idk if i want nkemdiche at 14. He could be good but too many red flags. Would rather trade down 5-10 spots and hope he falls
I agree. That seemed a bit high for him. Trading down could definitely be an option and gather more picks in the later rounds. I'm hoping Andrew Billings will be available at #27.
Did anyone see that Laremy Tunsil's Twitter account just got hacked during the draft and posted a video of him with a bong helmet, leading to him deleting it?
Yeah, he's dropping down to the bottom of the draft like a rock. Correction: He was until the Dolphins selected him.
