Ok, so build your team around CJ&Dame and be happy about it because you're not getting Durant,Curry or Lebron. By all means, play it safe and don't make any risky moves.

Garnett didn't take the Wolves anywhere until he got Sam and Spreewell. Where did MJ take that Bulls before he had a good team around him? only disappointments and sweeps.

Keeping CJ and Dame while adding Boogie is actually my preferred move, but that's not good for people on this board either because Cousins is not a saint.

    You people are impossible.

You can argue several things but Damien and CJ don't cost 2x as much combined as AD, and as for Dame/CJ injury they'v both broken their foot and thats the only real big injuries they have had while AD keeps having different injury after different injury.

CJ and Dame had about as much help as AD. Look at the difference. If Davis was worth trading a superstar leader, borderline all-star and a proven big then he should be able to at least will his team to the playoffs. Instead, they finish some 20 games under .500

Nice strawman. I'd like Boogie on the squad just as much as you do if not more. The problem is we'd have to trade CJ to get him. Otherwise someone like Boston can put a way better package together with all those draft picks.

There's guys who win and guys who don't despite how talented they are. I think we need to be extremely careful with who we bring in..I trust Neil

I love Lillard, but he's not a superstar, you've seen him against Chris Paul.
Plumlee is a nice starting Center, but he is not a rim protector nor is he physically imposing enough to stop several opponent Centers in the league.

Davis had as much help as Damien and CJ? you serious mang? he had no PG and Gordon was injured half the season in a guard driven league. Who was his partner in the front court? Ajinca? Asik?

Davis is only 23 and has a bright future ahead, him not leading a bad team AND a mickey mouse club to the playoffs doesn't mean anything.

The Pelicans arena is called "Smoothie King Center" , just think about it for a minute.

Stop giving him cover. He's not a leader. He can come here and be #2 tho.

Davis and Lillard were drafted at the same time and are under the same contract basically, CJ is going to sign a MAX contract under the new cap space, meaning Lillard and CJ are going to cost even more than twice combined.

I won't delve any deeper into guessing future injuries since many injuries are unpredictable.

If he had a good #2, a good Center next to him,a good coach and someone like Kyle Lowrie at the point then he'd have success and you'd call him a leader, because a leader is only as good as his soldiers.

Kobe looked like a leader without Shaq and Gasol? hell no, he was just an asshole bossing everybody around.

Anthony Davis is supposed to be a transformational LeBron type of player. Because of that I will hold him to the same standard. LeBron had nobody on his team (Ilgauskas? Mo?) when he made it to the finals. AD can't even make the playoffs...

You don't know if Boston is even interested in Cousins, he doesn't seem like a Brad Stevens player.

I don't think Cousins' stock is very high right now, he has a bad boy reputation after all.
I'd try to offer them something along the lines of:
Plumlee,Crabbe,Harkless\Aminu + draft picks and maybe we absorb a bad contract from a third team for another asset the Kings want.

    Different eras,different situations.
You can have your opinion, but i'm not quick to form a bad impression on players who play for a franchise with a bad GM+bad teammates+mediocre coach+shitty crowds.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He pushed his team into the playoffs last year, in a far tougher conference than those Cleveland teams you reference had to deal with. This year, about 75% of his team was injured.

Wrong. A mediocre leader is only as good as its soldiers. A good leader makes his soldiers better.

I think the point of confusion or difference is this.

    #1 option vs leader.

They don't need to be the same. Davis can be a #1 option on this team while Dame maintains leadership. I think Dame is smart enough and giving enough to give that #1 option up, knowing he will still be the one dictating the game on the floor. Davis would just need to keep his trap shut, lead the league in rebounds and points in the paint and let Dame run the show and we would have two all stars with a third borderline in CJ.

Same could be said with Cousins. Problem is, how do you get either one without giving up Dame or CJ?

It's not sainthood he's lacking, it's intelligence and maturity.
