Averaged 5.5 ppg in regular season last year but 11 ppg in the playoffs. Averaged 10 ppg in regular season this year but 14 ppg in playoffs. Rebounds are up too. Good to have a player that steps up his game in the postseason like this.
I wouldn't go strictly off of ppg. He's averaging more ppg because he's attempting 3 more shots per game. If you want to be encouraged about something, he averaged 41.6% from the field during the regular season, but he's averaging 43.3% during the playoffs. He's also shooting a full percent better from three.
So all in all, he is performing better. It sounds like his his numbers are going up with his usage rate, which not all players can brag about.
There aren't a lot of players like this nowadays who shine brighter in playoffs. Reggie Miller was like this. Stepped up his game every year in playoffs.
Now if we could just get a guy to start in front of him that is better in the regular season AND steps it up in the playoffs that would be great.
I bet Dallas is kicking themselves for giving Wes that huge contract instead of retaining Aminu for what he got.
When teams leave a guy wide open because they don't view him as much of a threat, then he better shoot at least the percentages he has been. Given the looks he's had, he's been solid in the past few games, but that doesn't mean he's a some primetime guy that's the answer at SF..
No. Miller would like go from 18 ppg to 25 ppg. Who is that guy now? Aminu isn't on Miller's level but he's a rare guy nowadays who steps up.
He's personally won 2 of our 5 wins for us. Who else out there can do that? Hint: it ain't DeRozen and it definitely ain't Harrison Barnes.
Which games did he personally win? I know one of them is the 30 point game he had.. You think that Derozen and Barnes can't go off for 30 on completely wide open shots? Derozen has multiple times, I'm sure Barnes has too. Aminu? He's done it once... Nearly every player in the league could make the defense pay off they were left completely wide open. Hell even I could. You think he's so great because he's hit wide open shots at an average rate....
Lots of players get open shots and don't hit them. Barnes has been missing wide open shots. Fuck, DeRozen shot 2/8 from FT line in a critical game. Doesn't get more open than that. As for the other game. It was yesterday. 23/10 on 9 shots. Doesn't get better than that.
