Agreed - from what everyone has posted Crabbe and Henderson sound like the guys who are least interested in being here. And I bet their reason is the same: CJ.
Once he signs an offer sheet, the first year of that offer becomes his cap hold. If he makes a decision during the moratorium, his cap hold will be much bigger after 7/6.
There is also the option of just telling the other team that we'll match, and Crabbe never signs the offer sheet. That is what happened with Roy Hibbert IIRC.
Hopefully Olshey has a good discussion with the Agents of our 3 FA and makes it very clear that we will take core of them, but asks them to give the Blazers a few days to lock up a FA. Luckily I doubt any of the 3 are going to be MOSS (Midnight Offer Sheet Signers)
With CJ running the point, and the propensity of small ball, one of those guys could still get big minutes. I think having them both splitting that time doesn't make that much sense. I really have liked Hendo, but I would let him walk and resign Crabbe. His skill set fits in better with this team and he still has room to improve.
One of them can catch and hit a three. The other has to take a dribble in, and usually so he can take a turn-around jumper under pressure. I'll take the first guy.
Exactly. I think crabbe would be happy to come back knowing that he would have a legit shot at being 6 th man of the year.
He's just doing what's smart for his wallet. If he says this is the place he wants, he's going have less suitors on the market for that payday.
I agree on all points. But to the first point, while I personally agree that there are enough minutes Crabbe's/Henderson's ego may want the start, regardless of how many minutes they can get off the bench. I think it's short-sighted, and may be an indicator that they aren't the type of player we want to invest in. But again, they may just be saying noncommittal things to help them get big contract offers, and would be perfectly happy coming off the bench once they have a contract they feel good about.
Aminu sounded like he said he was mostly training in MIA this summer. So far if that is true then he would be the first one to say not in POR most of the summer.
Henderson will likely head back to the Hornets. They are another feel-good team where he could potentially start. Plus I'm sure he has a sweet crib there.
Crabbe's D has been both praised and maligned this season. I've seen both sides, but he's young and improving. I think he has shown a lot of defensive potential, he's a damn good shooter, and he's starting to show offensive consistency.
Aminu's interview was really short. Nothing really to say about it. Pretty generic answers. Likes Stotts, wants the whole team to continue to work hard, etc.
