Play by play is simply reciting action where as color commentators need stats and imagination to keep going.
PlayXPlay is just telling people at home what is happening on the court. Calling the action. Color commentators have to actually give their opinion about the action. What they are seeing off the ball or what the players and coaches are thinking during the action.
I think radio PxP would be the hardest of all. But, I also think it would be the most fun because you get to paint the picture.
I think play by play would be hard. OTOH I think the color commentary should be fairly easy, and even fun, for a well qualified and articulate basketball person. Like CJ for instance. Unfortunately, far too many color commentators either suck, are boorish, too egotistical, or just obnoxious.
I read your premise, and it still meant nothing because the fact of the matter is Terry was staying, regardless of whatever anyone could conjure up.
I'm going to skip over the entire thread and just say - MINSTREL WAS WRONG! MINSTREL WAS WRONG! (we don't get to say that very often)
You read my premise, which was a joke about how every coach (up to Stotts) has weirdly lost their job after losing to the Curry-era Warriors, and it meant nothing to you? Well, everyone's a critic. #StephCurryVoodoo P.S. The voodoo lasts a year. Stotts isn't safe until next year at this time.
I was color commentator for Pacific University for like 5 or 6 games back in 2008 or so. It's hard, but play by play is just as hard in a different ways.
