That to me screams "loser". Not the mental mindset we are looking for.

I think Atlanta makes the call to those respective GM's and gets hung up on. Utah won't give up their 12 th pick and Hood. 12 th and some change? Totally. And Millsap is not worth all of that. 8 th, Cauley-Stein, McLemore and a future first? More like 8 th and one of those two players.

I wonder who will command more on the FA market. Crabbe and Harkless are both UFAs, so we can match any offer. My biggest fear here is some other GM wants to fuck with our cap space and makes one of them a toxic offer. Bazemore is older, but he's an RFA. So, his price will be set by the market without any shenanigans that may inflate his salary during the first year, or two, of his new contract. He'd be a decent plan b, if we lose one of our RFAs due to someone else overpaying them.

If CJ if a part of the Blazers long term plans and he signs a big contract like Lillard. If Brandon Ingram goes #2 and shows to be anything like KD, Paul George or a pime Paul Pierce in 2-3 years don't be surprised if this thread gets bumped.

To me, it screams, "ME, ME, ME!!!!" over "TEAM, TEAM, TEAM!!!". Agreed, that's not the mindset we are looking for.

You'd bump it because one of the players turned left on a street, so it's not saying much.

How many 2 guards have held down reddick and Thompson in this league it is two guys I wouldn't evaluate my 2 guard if he can play defense. Does he need to get better yes.

Maybe Burks instead of hood. And Millsap is definitely worth that. If not then we should be able to get him easy.

This is the way I feel about it. We've got a great back court rotation and I don't want to mess it up just to improve the front court. If Olshey can use the max salary slot to pick up an established All-Star level guy at the 4 or 5 spot, I think that fits better with Dame & CJ's window than getting a rookie who's going to take a few years to learn the pro game.

Ehhhhh. I know some of it was camera angles, but in the POR/GSW series, CJ didn't look much smaller than Iggy. In the past I've thought that CJ was too small, but after actually looking at him in comparison to other players he doesn't look as small as people make him out to be.

Regarding his defense - I don't think he played poorly against Redick or Klay. Sure, they had some games where they went off, but I don't lay the blame on CJ. He did as good a job as possible, given the defensive system he was playing within. Good defense comes from the coach, not from individual players.

I think most agree that Ingram and Simmons will be good, but they are not a "can't miss" like Durant or Rose. KD averaged 26/11 in his only year at Texas. And a lot of his scoring came from deep where you knew would transfer over to the NBA. Rose was a blur with the ball, everyone wanted him too.

Ingram can also shoot well from deep, but in my mind he is not relevant to the conversation because I don't think he will be there at #2. It comes down to Simmons......I admit he an intriguing ball handler at 6'10". He is going to score regardless if he can shoot from deep or not. He will be hard to keep away from the basket. He will be better than the Greek freak in terms of talent. But how much better and will his attitude be as good?

The player they will go after with this pick is Paul George.

I don't watch college ball, but from the highlight videos I've seen I can imagine him at least being similar to Blake Griffin if not LBJ. The ability to dribble and pass should make up for his lack of a shot. And Griffin didn't have a shot early in his career - but now he's got a pretty good jumper.

If you ever see Redick play live you will know he is a nightmare to guard, he never stops moving. (Think Jim Paxson) Being bigger does not help. I agree it is the system that is the key.

Klay is big at 6'7", but who on the Blazers slowed him down? Crabbe? Harkless? Aminu? All bigger players and none of them had success. So do we switch our SG based on matching up with Klay? Maybe...but just for that series.

As long as he's there he will be a problem.

This is why Marcus Smart is high on my list. He is so strong and reads angles like Eric Snow that he can legitimately check SF's.

Why would Indy do that? He's young. He plays, essentially, the same position as the top two talents. Trading George for Simmons or Irving is silly.

Yeah, I'm super impressed with Redick's approach to the game - maybe more than anyone in the league. I remember reading a Q&A with him a while back asking about how he's able to be so active all the time and his response was that he plays every possession like the play is for him to get the ball and score. Such a great mindset.

So does that mean we can expect Harkless to one day have a pretty good jumper? He didn't when he came out and he still doesn't.
But I admit, regardless of whether or not Simmons does get one....he is going to be good. Fuck I can see that I am changing my mind, but I don't want to admit the Lakers will be getting a young star.

In an era where IND will never come out of the East? Might be better for them to plan for the future, rather than futilely hoping they'll beat LBJ one of these years.
