Davis is a reserve, and did what he did against other reserves. He's not going to start at PF unless we have a much better offensive player at center, which we don't. Williams is an upgrade from what we've had starting at PF all year (either Vonleh or Aminu), and significant offensive upgrade from Davis. He's also bigger than all of them (weighs around 240), so less likely to get pushed around. He's an improvement. He'd make the team better.

I'd love to hear why you think a 27-year-old true 7-footer with some of the top defensive metrics in the league is an awful idea.

Aldrich has never been any good
My thinking is we can do better
    Easily pass on him
    Rather have Biyombo
    Is he really the answer?
Couldn't pay me to get on board with his signing
Am I going to have to spell it out for you?
Never have one of them on your team

BNM will hate this post because it has no real stats backing it
Orangemen are also in this category
Really think he'd be a poor signing
Never been a fan of his game

When will people listen to me about this
He is nothing but a journeyman at best
I can't say no loud enough
    Trust me
Essentially he would be our 10th man

Can we move past these players
Every time this gets brought up I hate it
Now is not the time to try another of these failed experiments
Teams haven't really tried to keep him around
Eeking out losses is what he'd help with
Right about now you should give yourself a timeout for suggesting it

While I completely disagree with you (I think Plumlee was pretty good this season, and he also falls into this same category), this post was beautifully done. Like I said, Aldrich is a top-tier defensive center, birthplace and melanin levels notwithstanding.

Actually, If you were to look back through all my hatred towards these players posts, Plumlee is the only guy I said I would want, and that was while he was at Duke

I know, that's why I brought him up. There are exceptions to every rule. I think Aldrich is an exception too, because he has demonstrated the ability in the pros to be a real center. He's not a shooter. He's not a finesse player. He's not a stiff. He's legit.

I don't see Meyers getting 8 rebounds, the way Stotts uses him. I think he's capable of that, but only in a different role than he played last season. And in our offense, with our other players and whatever upgrade we get at the offensive center position, I'll settle for 12 and 6, and appreciate the fact that he will stretch the floor for his teammates and pass the ball.

I disagree, and besides my own ability to watch players, here is why.

Cole Aldrich was a lottery pick, and has now been on 5 teams in 6 years. If he signs somewhere else next year, it will be 6 teams in 7 years. He's never played more than 16 minutes per game where he averaged 5/5 p[er game So if he's so good, what's with all the other teams letting him walk and never playing him?

I actually think Batum would do better on this current Blazers team, now that LaMarWhat'sHisName isn't clogging up the offense. Batum's primary job prior to the retool was to pass the ball into Aldridge every time he got it; everything else was secondary so of course his scoring was inconsistent. And why he made a comment this season about enjoying his new role on his new team. I believe Batum led the league in miles traveled when he was here, so it's not like he wasn't out there busting his ass. I would also welcome Batum back, but considering our other needs and his contract, it's not going to happen.

Because he's not a good offensive player, and he's continually been in places where he's been behind more talented players. Behind Howard in Houston, Cousins in Sacramento, Chandler in New York, and Jordan in LA. All the while learning from those players to the point where he's become an 18+ PER player each of the last three years with all-star-caliber rebound and block percentages. He's developed, as big men often need to do, and he's now ready to be a starter, I have no doubt.

Davis isn't good enough at defense to overlook the fact that he's practically a liability on offense. Williams is a FAR more offensively gifted player than Davis - and apparently equally as good on the defensive end. Therefore Williams would be a HUGE upgrade.

I haven't watched Biyombo much, but I did see him in a few of the TOR/MIA games. Not all that impressed.

He's not that good. He's an energy guy. Just better than a career back up lottery scrub like Aldrich
