Really just depends on if this is the kind of culture Whiteside want's to be a part of. If he's on the same page as the rest of the guys then I'm all for it. Same goes for anyone really. The most important part is definitely whether or not they have the same goals as the rest of the guys. I think that's why our season was so successful, everyone was on the same page about where they wanted to get and how they were gonna get there.

Seems like Whiteside will be a top priority target.

Been reading the Sixers forum lately and they seem really high on Embiid's potential, most of them willing to part with Okafor or Noel and stake on Embiid for future. Now I'm not sure how exactly we could tempt them into giving us either of them and which of them we should go with as they are completely different players (Okafor's offense or Noel's defense) but Olshey should be contacting them immediately when they make one of them available. They'd likely ask for CJ which is unfortunate but maybe we could sell them a package of Crabbe and Vonleh plus a pick or send Plumlee or Davis to another team for an asset that would suit Philly's needs better than another center?

I really reckon Okafor would be a true gem if only he improved his defense or you could play him next to a defensively solid PF and still beneit from his immense offense.

Oh and BTW Whiteside would be perfect for us in free agency. Defensively very good, also a threat at the post. Motivated Whiteside would be immense.

I think so. We'd have to use all of our cap for that experiment. We need to use that on an inside defender/scorer in FA. If we strike out in the FA period we look to do a lopsided trade with one of these teams that probably should blow it up (ATL, MEM, SAC, MIA).

@Boob-No-More is right for wishing for an ATL front line in Portland. We'd be good. No great. We'd be GREAT with that front line.

I say we swing for the fences. Look to land Whiteside in FA. Then, look to trade for Milsap as I believe Atlanta will surely blow that team up.

I have said for a while too that having Horford and Millsap here would be absolute perfection. Horford we'd have to get through FA and hope that Atlanta blow it up and allow us to have Millsap for a decent price. I would assume he would need to ask for a move specifically to Portland because other teams would also want him and could put together great packages. Then again if we sent them Plumlee, Crabbe and a pick they should at least consider this.

    How about this?

It would be contingent upon signing our FA Center.

Is that type of deal even possible with Crabbe being UFA?

Crabbe is an RFA. You can't trade him if resigned for months.

That would be the best line to I've seen for Portland.

    Damian
    Cj
    Harkless
    Millsap
    Whiteside

That's me. I'm not on the Whiteside bandwagon but we desperately need a starting center and I'll take the best we can get, and preferably at a cost that doesn't force us to give up assets. The idea is to get better, not go laterally.

Kind of funny everyone talks about Dame should be able to recruit a star free agent, but it may turn out CJ is the one who gets it done.

Not sure, I want to keep Aminu. Could be no other way though. For that price we are getting Okafor + maybe even another part from Philly though. Younger than Millsap and a good upside (yeah I like him).

I really like that lineup. I like millsap, but then I started looking at his numbers... I was kind of surprised, but aminu is actually better than millsap right now at multiple things. Most importantly are 3pt shooting, defense, age, and salary. So basically I don't want millsap to take minutes away from aminu. My top 3 guys I wanna see have a lot of minutes are Aminu, Harkless, and Crabbe. If all 3 of them can take another step, and we can get whiteside. Bitches better watch the fuck out in the western conference.

I think Portland will try to secure Whiteside, trade Plumlee for a non lottery first, and then bringing back all their RFAs. I don't think that leaves any money for much else, but it wouldn't surprise me if Montero carved out a role. The intriguing part of his game is his ability to handle the ball. Would take pressure off CJ in that second unit.

The challenge with that scenario is that the draft is on June 23, and we can't sign free agents until July 7th. Trading away our starting center for a non-lottery pick is a risk if we aren't sure we're getting Whiteside.

We can do 3 way trade that includes Portland Atlanta Philly. Plum goes to Atlanta and Teague goes to Philly and we get Okafor. Trade works if Atlanta don't sign Horford then Plum replace him and Philly need a point guard and Teague would fit there needs and we get young starting center in Okafor that has more offense upside then Plum.

It's gonna take more for ATL to give up Teague, and PHI would need to get more back as Teague is expiring

We'd have to give up at least this much IMO
PHI Gets: Noah Vonleh, Jeff Teague,
ATL Gets: Mason Plumlee, Al-Farouq Aminu
    POR Gets: Jahlil Okafor

Probably too much for us to give up, but we do save $8M-$9M in the deal. We'd have $34M in cap space.

HYPOTHETICALLY, itd be good enough to sign Horford (Or Gasol) and Jared Dudley

    Lillard (36) / CJ (12)
    CJ (24) / Crabbe (24)
    Harkless (26) / Dudley (6) / Crabbe (6)
    Davis (20) / Horford (14) / Leonard (14)
    Horford (18) / Okafor (30) /
