I was just outside washing my car. I hear some godawful bass coming from down the street. I wait a minute and the source comes rolling by. A newer BMW, I stare at it with a look of disgust. As it rolls by he waves at me and I see it's a black guy and maybe a hispanic woman. Couldn't really tell. Anyway, I don't wave back. I don't care what color you are but if you don't have the courtesy to leave your godawful thump crap music off for 3 minutes while you enter/exit your neighborhood YOU ARE A PIECE OF SHIT. I'd have done the same if some rich redneck with a big @$! lifted truck was thumping some country junk so I know I'm not racist. I've got two subs in my theater room and I played the boomiest parts of Mad Max with the bass louder than I like while I stood outside and listened for it. I couldn't hear it, if I could have I'd have kept turning it down.
I think you need to chill out. The dude waved at you and you didn't have the decency to wave back. I don't care who he is and what he was doing in his car, he tried to be respectful by waving, you tried to be disrespectful by ignoring it (even if you didn't approve man up and do the respectful thing, an eye for an eye, two wrongs don't make a right, etc...). Pisses me off when I wave at my neighbors and they just glare at me, or when I let somebody in but they don't have the time to raise their freaking hand to say thanks. It seems like so many people for whatever reason no longer have the time/energy to show these simply displays of courtesy.
What did race have to do with any of this? "I hate when people blast their bass" seems to be the premise. Race has nothing to do with it, because I might have my bass up too loud sometimes. I don't think anyone can hear it, but I guess that still makes me a piece of shit.
NO ONE is entitled to enter your property without your permission and disrupt your peace of mind with their loud awful music. The driver of the car was the one that was being disrespectful. Keep your shit noise of all kinds off of my property, and I promise to keep mine off of yours. If any wave was appropriate in the OPs scenario, it was the single finger wave, with both hands.
It's a public thoroughfare... Plus there's never any reason to send that kind of negativity out to anyone. Just an FYI - You're doing more of an injustice to yourself by spreading that negativity than you are to the person you flip off. And don't for a second think you know who somebody is or where they have been. Those two could have been returning from the hospital after visiting their sick mother, you really think they need to see some ass hat flipping them off? For crying out loud if you are actually an older gentlemen then you blow me away. How many years have you lived on this Earth with your head in the sand?
What part of disrupting a person’s peace of mind do you not understand? What part of trespassing on private property do you not understand? If you do not respect my property and peace of mind, then fuck you for being the asshole by trespassing on my property with your loud music or noise!!!!
What part of a public road isn't yours/his/anyone's private property do you not understand? Are you that crazy ass old man who shot wildly into the neighborhood when the kids egged his house, hitting near a child's bedroom at the home across the street?
Section 7.05.010 Public disturbance. A. A person is guilty of public disturbance if he or she: Sound from portable audio equipment, such as tape players, radios, and compact disc players, operated at a volume so as to be audible greater than fifty (50) feet from the source. The foregoing enumeration of acts and noises shall not be construed as excluding other acts and noises which offend the public peace.
Lol, grow a pair or move to the mountains or country. And if you actually take the time to measure the distance from your house to the road then that Would be time better spent learning how to constructively deal with things that upset you.
Actually loud noise disturbance can act as an affliction and affect a variety of people with conditions, such as: PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and Hypersensitivity to Sound and Anxiety Disorders. I work a lot with people like that and it really is an affliction for them.
I totally get that and respect it fully, but are you telling me that the majority of them think the best way to combat the problem is with rudeness? Is rudeness ever the correct answer in your mind? There are countless different options to resolve a problem. It is of my belief that none of those solutions should involve violence or rudeness. When I was growing up my mother used to say that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
Rudeness is not the correct answer. However, you were just as rude with Oldfisherman. Something to think about.
Please bring to my attention what I said that was just as rude as had I flipped him off. If you are talking about the old man question it was something that actually happened here and a legitimate question.
Not reading the part where I said if you can't wait 3 minutes to leave your neighborhood part ruins the whole concept for you. I meant to mention I'm racist in the same way that blonde bimbo is for mentioning a Sir Mix a Lot lyric. I'm literally not racist as I don't think the color of your skin makes you a certain way. Dviss1 chewed my ass for treating that Winco kid I should have got fired differently. So, I kept it real. Did what I would do to anyone. I had a car wash mitt in one hand and a hose in the other by the way and only a split second to wave...too busy glaring. I wave to all my neighbors and about half of them wave back. Even the white ones don't wave back..must be racist against me.
See, I already show ALL of my neighbors courtesy. Unlike this asshole who likes to drive 30-35 by kids on bikes.
It's actually a private road in a gated community. I could be a dick and complain to the HOA but I wished he'd have stopped and asked why I was staring at him. Maybe he is too stupid to realize the common courtesy he is lacking by blasting his dumbshit music in a new development of half a million dollar homes. The sooner they sell these homes the sooner the community is finished. If someone looking at a house heard that they might not buy.
Somewhere in my posts here there might be a story of the Harley guy I threatened which made him stop revving his (insert South Park quote here) stupid motorcycle in my old community. He too gave me shit about respect when he lacked it from the beginning. That shit kills me. As if you could be so ignorant of community etiquette.
