Ssh. We don't want Mags' head to explode. We need to bring him back to reality in a slow, controlled fashion.

More like if you dont believe in a religion, why do you want to get married by one of its ministers if it's a religious tradition?

Then by all means, have at it. Why force a preacher to marry you? Why would you even want his blessing if he doesnt believe god will bless your endeavors?

Who said anything about forcing preachers? You're the one who said marriages should be religious only.

Me and Mrs. Crane got married in a church. It was a favor to her parents. I'd have been perfectly fine just going to city hall and having a judge do the ceremony.

In the last 35 years, we've been inside a church maybe twice. For friends' weddings.

We raised our children atheists. If they want to choose a religion, so be it. We didn't force anything down their throat.

When we met with the minster before the wedding, the guy told me I'm going to hell because I wouldn't convert to his religion. And our kids would, too, unless we baptized them.

    LOL

I said the state should have nothing to do with it. And there shouldnt be tax benefits for it. Marriage is fucking stupid. If you love someone why cant you just be with them? Everyone wants this stupid ceremony all about them knowing that their guests are bored to tears.

And gays are trying to force preachers to conduct marriages. It baffles me why youd want to be married by someone who wants nothing to do with you is all im saying

Sounds catholic. Dude clearly hadnt read the bible, or atleast understood anything in it.
An athiest believes there is no god. If you raised your children to be athiests, you forced your beliefs down their throat wheter you realize it or not.

Most people who call themselves atheists just don't believe in a god, they don't definitively believe there is no god, or no possibility of a god. Raising kids with no religion is not forcing a belief down their throat because it's simply a lack of belief, which is the rational default view on the matter.

I am really having a hard time with this election. With anything in life, I try to look at the broad picture. Some of you will scoff at that notion because of some of my posts, but it's true.

I am definitely socially liberal, and definitely everything else conservative. To me, Hillary would destroy this country financially. Our military would suffer, the handouts would increase, Obamacare would continue...you know, yuck. On the other hand, Trump would do more damage to peace within the people of the US than Obama did. His foreign policy scares the shit out of me and I think he is too hell bent on overturning everything Obama did just to spite him.

Looks like another write in vote for Gary Johnson. While I don't agree 100% with him, his views mostly reflect mine. I will be there to help him get his 15%

Nope. Like I said. Not 100% on board with any of them, but his views are closest to mine

Spent Tuesday evening at campaign headquarters. I was surprised it was not closer.

I'm a registered independent. I got a notice from the state months ago that I could vote in various primaries (except Republican, which is closed) by requesting a ballot. I had not yet decided if I would support Clinton, Sanders or neither but requested the ballot as it committed me to nothing. I am now hearing that it was unfair to Sanders supporters who were independents but did not get Democratic ballots. Presumably they got the same notice, and the campaign also has responsibilities to make sure its supporters have the information they needed.

Big rallies are exciting, I know. But what gets out votes is drudgery. I did a fuck of a lot of drudgery, walking precincts until my feet ached, making calls until I had a crick in my elbow. We had phone banks in five languages. It was not exciting or glamorous but it is what works.

When I arrived home late Tuesday, I barely missed stepping on the remains of a large bird Zoey had left on my doormat, the one inside the house. She sure knows how to welcome home her human. I just love sweeping up feathers at midnight!
