Who will the Blazers hire to replace the Mikes?

Its personally offensive that the Portland Trailblazers would fire beloved and long time announcers Mike Barrett and Mike Rice and hire a Seattle Supersonics announcer just so they can penetrate the Seattle market further. Its the Portland Trailblazers, not the Seattle Trailblazers, not the Northwest Trailblazers, not the Cascadia Trailblazers.

 

Fuck Seattle.

 

Michael Thompson still loves the Pacifc NW, but he loves his home near the beach in SoCal better. Plus he has another son who starts for the Dodgers. He ain't leaving.

The President of the Trailblazers, who yesterday fired our broadcast team, basically all but said hire coming soon, just started following Kevin Calabro. I think it's noteworthy.

El I hate Seattle fans as much as the next Portland guy, however is it that bad if a Portland product is shoved down their throats like they do to us with the Seahawks and Mariners. I think it is advantages for Blazers fans if their market is increased. PA may be a multi billionaire but he still wants to make money. They are not moving to Seattle. Nothing wrong with trying to grab some of their viewers. Vancouver Canada too.

 

Calabro/Payton? Is that a good replacement team?

 

At the expense of killing a huge part of the Franchise? I don't know about you, but before, the Blazers was more of a "family". They pushed their marketing shit. Rise Together. Whatever. All a bunch of bullshit. Their slogan should be "chase the mighty dollar".

Sure, run a fucking commercial in Seattle but to fire Mike and Mike like they did is just low class and trash.

 

Do you feel the same way about Shonley? He was a Seattle guy when Harry hired him to be the Blazers announcer.

Do you hate all things with ties to Seattle? Did you hate Brandon Roy when he played here? Did you hate Nate McMillian when he coached here (ok, I'll give you a pass on that one...)? Did you hate Bob Whitsitt when he was our GM (ok, I'm starting to come around to your point of view...)?

I think Roy had a deep resentment for Portland, personally. He's still a "Seattle guy". Same with Jamal Crawford. There's a reason we don't see much about Roy and the franchise, he never really embraced the city. If the Blazers are going Seattle Centric, I can see him being involved as some sort of Seattle Ambassador or something.

 

No it's not worth that. But I think they wanted a change regardless.

Calabro told the lying hillbilly owners to go fuck themselves when they moved the team to OKC. For that alone, he's already endeared himself to this Portland fan.

I got over that Roy was a Husky and Mike Barrett was a Beaver. So grabbing Calabro, who is actually from Indiana, is not that bad.

 

Compared to having the Mikes, it sucks. As well as the motivation behind it and the manner in which it was done.

Basically the entire Trailblazers organization told its fanbase to CTC.

 

Calabro is not a bad announcer, just a shit move to go after him by the organization.

 

Portland has fans all over the world...it's not like we're the "world trailblazers" nor will we be seattle, northwest trailblazers... it's still portland... and we already have fans all over the world.
