I always thought Nico would want to go to Toronto or New Orleans given the choice. They could both use him and he loves the Big Easy...both places would have more French culture than most other franchises. He has a better shot at being an allstar in the east

 

Is Barnes really going to get a Max after his performance in the Finals?

 

Yes. He is 23 and people have lots of cash to spend.

 

I hope not and he doesn't "deserve" anywhere near the max, however given so many teams with so much capspace it could see ridiculous contracts

This is gonna be a big off season for FA's. Guys like Barnes will get so much more money than they deserve

 

I REALLY hope someone blows their cap space on Barnes. One less team competing for the guys we actually want.

I have to admit, I never thought he'd stay there.

 

They gave up a lot to get him.

 

Everything batum has said alluded to the fact he was staying. Even though his agent was still being a douche.

He never said those nice things about us while his agent was being a douche.

 

I still don't buy that. I still bet he leaves.

 

I always thought who ever paid him the most was where Nic would go. Can't blame him for that. The guy was willing to go to Minnesota to get paid. So is Charlotte maxing him out?

 

I think Nico likes the east coast for flying home to France. Quick flight. He stayed in Portland a long time...maybe he doesn't like moving around much?

 

He stayed in Portland because we owned his rights. He couldn't leave.

 

Batum is staying because they are going to give him a 5y max and he will make a bajillion dollars.

So. He re-signed for way below his max with a small-market team. Huh.

 

I'd probably ultimately rather have Parsons for 4/94 than Batum for 5/120. Parsons is the better scorer/shooter (defense is more of a wash and Batum is a better playmaker) and both are injury-prone and hard to rely on at the end of a long season.
