At one point, that was 3 of Portland's starters that went on to beat an albeit injured Clippers squad. Since the Clips seemingly were better without Griffin, not sure I'm giving up that much for him.

Ah yes, the trade that hypothetically makes both teams worse. If you read the fine print at the bottom...

    Under the Clippers:
With this trade you have decreased this team's projected wins by 2.

    Under the Blazers:
With this trade you have decreased this team's projected wins by 6.

So, we get worse by 6 wins (in theory) and it costs us almost $7 million in cap space. Plus, we replace some good dudes with one of the biggest douchebags in all of sports.

Ah, but you're not the GM that drafted him.

I totally forgot about Blake. He could be a good trade target, but I'm not trading CJ for him.

To give some perspective, the MLE is typically for those guys 4 thru 7 on the roster. Not top starters, but solid role players. I'd consider Harkless in that range.

Last year, with a CAP of $70M, the MLE was $5.4M. That's about 7.5%.

This year, the CAP will be around $94M. 7.5% of that is $7.1M.

Next year, they expect the CAP to be close to $108M. 7.5% of that is $8.1M.

If a team thinks he's a low end starter or 6th man, he'll probably be getting offers in the $7M - $8M range.

If a team thinks he's a future solid starter (23 yrs old with upside), then he may get offers a bit higher than that.

MLE isn't tied to the Cap

Yeah all three is absurd. Blake is a good player, but he is not a "take over the game" whenever he wants type of player.
Not sure we have what they need besides Aminu. They don't need CJ and I prefer to keep him.

I saw where Howard officially opted out today. So the article mentioned how Portland, Charlotte, Orlando and Milwaukee were
once considered the front runners. Seems like a wild guess on someone's behalf.

Neither is Neil Olshey. Griffin was a Dunleavy pick. He was drafted in 2009, Neil did not become Clippers GM until 2010.

Two of the players POR would be giving up, however, were Olshey draft picks: C.J. and Aminu.

Depends on who is in the back court.

Correct. But looking at the current MLE players as a percent of the cap gives us an idea where comparable salaries will be with the higher CAP.

The Vertical Sources: Houston Rockets star Dwight Howard has declined his $23.2 million player option for 2016-'17, enters free agency.

Who the fuck is matt moore and why do we care? Is he friends with dwight?

All we care about is what dwight says. And his mentor said we are a good fit. Who would have much more influence on where dwight is going.

Sort of surprising there are not more teams interested in the #3 pick.

I really think the most valuable picks this year will be mid-1st rounders. The 3 tier of the draft according to Ford, et. al. is like 6 - 26.
