#3 in this draft does not have enough value to cost Aminu, Plumlee and CLE 1st, especially as the most promising prospects after big two are backcourt players we don't really need that much (Hield, Dunn). Of course we could use cap space to replace Plumlee and Aminu with players like Mahinmi/Biyombo and Bazemore but ultimately there's not that much gain.

Kris Dunn would be the perfect 3rd guard for us. A 6'4 lockdown defender and the 3rd ball handler/playmaker we need. Move Crabbe to SF

Yeah but do we need him? We have a great backcourt as it is. Dunn would add quality over our backup players but you could also get a cheap third guard off the free agency without having to give up on Aminu, Plumlee and a pick and creating two additional gaps in already weak frontcourt. You'd basically leave us with Ed Davis, Noah Vonleh and Maurice Harkless in the frontcourt and we'd have to sign at least three new players in free agency for a cap of around $32M (we will only free up $7M a year from Aminu, another reason why we cannot possibly get rid of him now, his contract is very friendly, and just $1.5M from Plumlee) - with so many teams having a lot of space you can expect the likes of Bazemore (who will not be much of an upgrade if any over Aminu) and Biyombo (who will protect the rim better than Plumlee but will not assist as much and will not improve our offense at all) to easily command $12M - $15M so you can only get two players for that really. That does not even consider the fact that Aminu was probably our best power forward last season and is the only player on the roster who can play stretch 4 consistently.

I think it's because of steep decline after #2. Simmons and Ingram are locked for the first two position and they're potential stars, looking behind them all other players are potential busts that teams might not want to take a risk on. Bender looks like a talent but is he really worth a steep price for #3? Buddy Hield is a great perimeter shooter but he's already 22 and it's not clear how quick he'll adjust to the league. Kris Dunn is a talent as well. I think another thing is that teams know that Boston want to get rid of that #3 badly so they won't go over the top with their offers. Boston could take Dunn or Hield but their backcourt is already good enough with Thomas, Bradley and Smart so they'd probably be moving one of them to accommodate a new player. Frontcourt players that could go at #3 are very rough - Bender, Chriss will take time to get used to the league and will probably not make any serious impact next season. Someone like Okafor or Noel would add much more to the team right now.

I think the deal that makes most sense to everyone is Okafor or Noel for #3. Philadelphia will draft Dunn and finally have a solid point guard who can shoot, Boston will finally have some threat near the post or defense - if I were them I'd be going for Okafor as their perimeter defence is very strong with Bradley and Crowder is a decent defender too, they're the team that could hide Okafor's deficiences but use his immense post up skills. Noel would make them even stronger defensively but would add nothing in the offense. They badly need a center.

I love Philly's line up if they manage to get Dunn and Simmons. You'd be looking at Dunn, new SG, Simmons and two of Okafor/Embiid/Noel. If Embiid is as good as they say then they're potential challengers in 2-3 years (will be fighting it out with Milwaukee as the surprise package in around 2018-19, mark my words).

Show me how we can get a young guard with Dunn's skills (Which we need in a 3rd guard) for $3M and how we can pull that off.

I can show you many ways and many players we can get that would be an upgrade over Aminu and Plumlee.

We can't but we'd still be playing Lillard and McCollum for most of the game. We don't need three star guards. Our frontcourt will still be poor and even weaker than it is.

As I say, you can replace Aminu and Plumlee with Biyombo and Bazemore, maybe even Mahinmi and Turner for a smaller price but that still does not justify that deal IMO. We can do better.

Dunn is a great fit next to CJ and Dame as a guy that could come in and defend the best guard on the other team putting CJ or Same on the weakest guard. Teams also wouldn't be able to go full force at CJ or Dame when one of thems out of the game, as Dunn an handle the ball. He's good enough to start on Day 1, but under Lillard he could develop into the best guard off the bench in the NBA.

We'd have Davis, Leonard, Vonleh, and Harkless that could play PF or C, with Crabbe being able to play SF. We would only need one more big man to be set.

You think we should go for a guard in free agency? Trading Aminu and Plumlee opens up space for upgrades. Hello Marvin Williams. Hello Hassan Whiteside.

It's convenient for your argument to name 2 of the worst signings we could make

    Lillard / Dunn
    McCollum / Dunn
    Harkless / Crabbe
    Williams / Davis / Vonleh
    Whiteside / Leonard / Vonleh

That looks pretty good to me ^

Better than anything we could come up with by keeping Aminu and Plumlee and spending half our cap space on a backup guard.

If Dunn becomes a star level player we'd be able to flip him for an all star. He would instantly be a more valuable trading piece then Aminu and Plumlee combined. Even if we kept him, getting 12/5/3 in 24 minutes a game would be awesome (18/8/5 per 36). He'd be our Livingston except way better. Not to mention we wouldn't be screwed if one of our top guards got hurt.

Id take Dunn, Mahinmi, and Turner over Aminu and Plumlee. And that's if we don't land someone legit like Horford/Whiteside/Howard or someone underrated like Marvin Williams.

Lol how so? Dunn is miles ahead of Brown and Brown can't do much offensively...

Read the exact opposite 2 hours ago. Seems a bit complicated in Utah at the moment.

Man Gordon would be an absolute PERFECT fit here. He's a FA next season, so UTA might be trying to do what we did with Nico last summer.

    They need a PG.

Maybe we can do a three way with ATL and get Teague to UTA?

Well, let's get Whiteside and Williams to agree to come here first, then we could think about some trades. Although Plumlee has a very small cap hold so I don't see the logic in trading him.

Honestly, I think that'd be awesome if they both bought into what we're doing here and would be satisfied with whatever role they're given.

    According to Marc Stein/ESPN
No mention of the Blazers but it doesn't mean we won't be interested. I guess.
