?

Do the Blazers acquire a pick?

  1. A pick in the 20-30 range

  2. A pick in the 31-40 range

  3. A late 2nd rounder

  4. Paul Allen loves Draft Day and we get 2 picks

Cash Paid ($3.4 million max): $75 to Cleveland Cavaliers (Brendan Haywood); $75k to Miami HEAT (Brian Roberts)

I imagine to Cavs is supposed to be 75K. If not, that's opretty funny. 75 bucks. Did Paul pick up a bar tab or something for Gilbert? So we have 3.25 or so

I bet we get one pick (and only one pick). I bet it is easier overall for teams to get a mid to late first than and early 2nd as well. Players drafted in first round come with automatic cap charge. Those in the 2nd don't.

Oden was born in the US, not Africa.

The age-40 rule only applies to those born in Africa. Kinda like how the age-40 rule applies to those Latin-born baseball players, but not those born in the US.

    Foreigners are tougher than Americans.

    Except French and Spaniards.

    No, but there's this:

I don't think the exact $$ amount was ever reported.
I don't know if it's still 3 mil, or if you get 3.5 mil now.
I don't know when the magic ending date/renewal date for this is, or even if there is one.

I don't know much, but we probably don't have the full amount, however much that is!

edit: ooops, late to the party.

It's funny because adding Teague and Young to a roster in the west wouldn't do squat... for instance, if Dallas added those two players, nobody would care.

But in the East, that's a contending team!

That's what I was thinking. Take the Charlotte deal with Hawes, then flip the 22 and the Cleveland pick for Young, and all of a sudden we have a lot of scoring in our frontcourt.

Yeh, I had to give Dave over at BE some crap cuz he was claiming Blazers could buy two 2nd round picks, even though they have apparently already spent some of their yearly allotted three milllion.

I think it's stupid that they put a cap on how much cash you can spend.

I agree with this kind of move.

Perhaps not getting in on something like indicates our potential FA activity?

I think Neil has every intention of going hard after one of the big name guys in free agency. Gonna need that cap space.

That cracked me up. I wish I could have gotten rid of my ex-wife for $75. Hell, I wish the divorce would have only cost me $75K. It's weird that we've gotten used to hearing about max. contracts starting at $26 - $30 million a year, that anything in the NBA happens in dollar amounts, like $75K that a regular fan can relate to.

If not, Paul Allen and Mark Cuban would be in a bidding war for the #1 pick every year.

    I'd be fine with that.

    BNM

P.S. It would actually be the Knicks buying the #1 pick every year. Which I'd also be OK with, as they'd fuck it up every year and we'd have the 2nd pick, which would still get us the best player.
