If we don't hit a "home run" I do hope we make smart value signings like Aldrich (3yr/40mil), Delly (2yr/16mil offer), match on Crabbe, Harkless, and Leonard. Maybe explore a trade of Aminu+CLE first rounder for Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott? Dame / Delly CJ / Crabbe Harkless / McDermott Taj / Davis Aldrich / Plums / Nards Pine riders: Pat, Montero, Vonleh, and Cliff. It's not super sexy but we get bigger, tougher, and gain tradeable assets.
Aminu and cleveland 1st for gibson and mcdermott? Mcdermott sucks and gibson is old. Id hate that deal. Aldrich at 13 million a year even with the new cap makes me want to stab myself in the eye.
I think we have to get used to cap bumped salaries. Some team is gonna pay Noah upwards of 20 million probably. 13 is a drop in the bucket, especially when the cap shoots up another 20 million next season. McDermott is a decent prospect off the bench for the Bulls last season he averaged 9ppg and shot .452/.425/.857, Taj is also only 31 and he is a good defender.
I actually liked Joel but Cole's advanced defensive stats are among the top in the entire league which Joel's were never close to.
I think healthy Joel was probably pretty close but he just couldn't stay healthy...Joel is a good paint protector
Actually Freeland's defensive stats were pretty stellar. No, his problem is that he's always injured. He's also smaller than Aldrich.
Gibson is not better than aminu and is older. And id rather have a 1st round futute asset instead of mcdermott. If we are going to pay aldrich 13 million, give biyombo 15 million (barf) . Its still very stupid either way. Those guys arent game changers and youd be paying them as big parts of the rotation. If it comes down to that, use your cap space to let teams dump shit on your for future assets.
Biyombo and Aldrich can be interchangeable I guess but Aldrich is larger and has a better offensive game.
People have a real boner for Aldrich because he looked decent in the Clippers series and his advanced stats look good after playing like 5 minutes a game. I doubt his stats stay anywhere near that good playing 30 plus minutes.
No he is not a marquee guy, but either was Kanter. Either way he is only plays half the game. I think Plums is still pretty good against a lot of teams. Mason has a lot of skills, just not the ones Biyombo has. I still want him on the floor. And I think the two of them would make a good tandem. Throw in Meyers in there at 3rd string C and you have some versatility. Sure if would be great to have a combination of the three combined in one player.......but that does not look likely. I do see the downside of paying him a lot of money to come off the bench, but it does fill the rim protection need. The question is who do you play Ed with. They kind of play the same role player but I think Biyombo is better. Davis could play PF with Aminu and Vonleh. Not a bad 6 man committee.
Like I mentioned in another post...we fall in love with bigs who can make a jump shot, a lay up and a free throw too easily
If we strike out on whiteside and horford we should explore trading for Dieng out of Minnesota. His contract is up next year and there are questions whether or not minny would pay up. They're also rumored to be in the Joakim sweepstakes and have shown interest in Faried.
Is he really larger though. Standing reach is basically the same and Biyombo has a slightly longer wingspan. Their latest weights seem to be around 245. Cole does seem bigger though.
