Trail Blazers TV contract negotiations remain 'wide open' as deadline looms

    Any idea why this deadline exists? What happens if an agreement isn't reached by then? Seems like the team should be able to let a deal lapse and then sign a new agreement whenever they get one that they like.

    EDIT: So after reading I'm going to assume that @HCP's "ding ding ding" response is in regards to a clause in the current contract that stipulates a new agreement must be in place 1 year before expiration of the current deal. Goddamn Comcast fucked the Blazers HARD on that last deal.

    Totally honest here...... I don't know the exact details on it, but I think if we don't come up with a decision by July 1st, we just ride the CSN deal until it's over next summer, then start up negotiations up again.

    BEdge says the KGW renewal up in air as well.

    This is the perfect time and situation to take this to the web. Everything is streaming online. There already is a platform with League Pass.

    So the KGW deal expires at the same time as the Comcast deal. The Comcast deal is up for renewal. Wouldn't that mean the KGW deal is up for renewal?
