The epitome of a ‘stretch-4’,...... avoids the paint like it is ground zero for the Zika virus. 17 points, 6 rebounds and an assist with 5+ 3-point attempts per game, he can be streaky but when he is on a role, can hit ‘3’s from anywhere.

A look at what other options Portland might be looking at if the miss out on their 1st choice.

Another good article. However, you didn't mention Cole Aldrich, and I thought some here on s2 made a compelling argument for him.

(unimportant typo: gets on a roll, not role)

    serious answer:

I am "planning" that Horford is just unattainable by POR so I think the top of the list is dominated by C's and has been hashed out here very well. But I will list them as I see it:

    Plan A - Whiteside
Plan B - more shaky and it's Howard
    Plan C - Mahinmi
    Plan D - Cole Aldrich

Plan C and D offer chances to sign other guys in FA. All options adding Centers does open up trade possibilities for Plumlee/Davis

If all else fails and other teams have spent their cap, call up Boogie's agent and him to demand a trade. Drafting a C, 2 drafts in a row when the only real player you have is a C is just plain dumb - and after 6 years, completely unacceptable.

Thank you. That first response won me $5. No you do not get half.

Thank you. I thought about mentioning Aldrich but there were quite a few big men already and Cole is garnering almost zero buzz around the league. It also felt like that if Portland hadn't seen him in the Playoffs up close, he wouldn't be getting as much mention here. That said, he does fit the Olshey 'shopping off the rack' modus operandi so maybe I should have included him after all.

    (will edit, thank you)

Plumlee for Bogut, McCaw, and a future 1st to help GSW clear cap space for Durant. They'd need a Bogut replacement Plumlee fits perfectly there as a cheap, passing big that excels on hitting backdoor cutters. We'd still have cap room to sign, say, a Chandler Parsons? Sign Jack with the room exception and call it good.

    Lillard (36) / Jack (12)
    McCollum (36) / Crabbe (12)
    Parsons (28) / Crabbe (10) / Moe (10)
    Aminu (24) / Davis (18) / Moe (6)
    Bogut (28) / Leonard (16) / Davis (4)

    Thats a deep squad.

Is there a reason why we'd prefer Aldrich at C over Plums?

No offense, but that is a terrible idea... When you factor in age and salary, Plumlee is the best player in that deal... Why would you give up 10 mil in cap room for a 32 year old injury prone center and help Warriors get KD in the process?! One of the worst ideas I have read on this board...

    Trade for Giorgui Dieng.

    That's just my wish

    Realistically, probably Howard.

Considering the fact that we usually don't hear about the REAL guy the FO is interested in it wouldn't surprise me if Cole is the guy NO is hitting up at 1201. He is an upgrade both offensively and defensively with much more potential when he gets the starters minutes. Somebody here posted his stats per minute and they were more impressive than even I thought. I doubt he gets a max contact. Leaving room for another upgrade. Plus we take away a center from a west coast rival.

Rim protection and a decent jump shot out to ten feet.

Just think how much better we'd have been last year if Plumlee had had a reliable 10 foot jumper, and were a somewhat imposing presence in the paint.

Except I'm pretty sure we were better protecting the rim from 0-3 feet on defense than the Clippers were.

I like what Plums contributes on offense. I've just never liked much about Aldrich's overall game.
