It's just bumming me out man. We have a really good up-and-coming team. We have two legit stars. We have the money. We have a great owner. We have a great coach. We have a great GM. And yet....... all these fucking players are looking at other teams with shittier rosters. It pisses me off. It reminds me of that line from Moneyball, "It's an unfair game."

He hunts for blocked shots to the detriment of his team as often as he saves them. His team seems to do better on defense and rebounding when he's off the floor vs on the floor. It's been brought up by multiple people, including this article posted earlier in this same thread: http://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/miami-heat-is-better-without-hassan-whiteside-on-the-court-8215115

Plus he had something insane like 10 assists all season, so he doesn't pass, ever.

To my eye, when I watch him play I see a guy getting by purely on his length and athleticism, and that bothers me. He looks lazy a lot of the time and gets a lot of blocks by getting out of position and baiting shots so he can go for the block. You know, kind of like you would do if you were just trying to boost your number of blocks. Against bad teams he will eat up the blocks like crazy, but against good teams he'll look like a swinging idiot. If he plays for us he'll just foul out of half of his games.

And he has, like, no offensive game. We already have Plumlee and Davis. The bottom line is I'd much prefer Horford, but we don't seem to be as interested in him as we do Whiteside and Howard. So I'll just sit down and shut up and see what happens I guess.

If Dallas/Whiteside don't announce terms of a deal being reached tonight, I think you might see the media narrative turn a bit as Portland gets a chance to sit down with him. The Mavericks are first up so all the attention is on them. That could change tomorrow.

I get it. Im on the same side as you bud, it does suck knowing that we really only have one option to try and be a championship and thats through the draft. To a lesser extent we can try and trade for disgruntled stars but again sometimes it comes down to whether they wanna come to Portland or not. I don't follow baseball or hockey closely at all, but I feel like NBA is the worst when it comes to free agency. Even if you have a winner in a small market team and money to give out the ass, the stars in the NBA moreso than any sport, seem to always consider location more than anything and it blows. But with regards to Whiteside, until he officially signs with Dallas/someone else or theres reports saying were eliminated for consideration, we do have a little hope. :)

I think part of what's pissing me off is that we haven't even had a fair shake, and yet the reports are that Dallas are the front runners.

    A) I think there's some wicked tampering going on.

    B) All I want is a fair shake. I want to be able to meet with him and make our pitch.

I'm with you. Totally feel you. That's why I like the draft. This is what I meant

Hopefully we get that fair shake. Like I said earlier if we wake up and he hasn't signed with Dallas or anyone, I think it is safe to say we at least got out chance regardless of what he does.

I'm just looking at a summer where we could potentially walk away with Parsons and Whiteside and I'm just wishing it would come true. It would shut a lot of people up.

Hassan whiteside said he was a businessman first. And that state income tax affected his decision.

Texas has no state income tax.

Dallas is a bigger media market.

He's gonna need that extra million he's gonna save from taxes when he flops in Dallas.

Woj just repeated his tweet almost word for word on his cast. This is stupid. He hasn't said anything about us.

He said there should be finality quickly after midnight. Doesn't sound like we're going to get a shot.

Maybe Portland wasn't that interested in a guy who said he's a Businessman that plays basketball? That's some serious CTC stuff there.

Yeah, but we went from having a meeting set up..... to not even be in the discussion before free agency even starts. How does that happen?
