Nor can I. Not really sure why any player would want to leave Miami, all other things being equal. Get paid, live in south beach. Great life if you can get it.
Every FA period, every trade period... Complaining proclamations of being done calling it a failure etc... Etc... Meanwhile the team itself keeps getting better and 6 months down the road people look back and say wow I hated that when it happened but it really worked out. Yeah there's been a couple of "meh" deals but those actually looked good at the time. Chin up Blazers fans this move will be better than knee jerk reactions lead you to believe.
You either move Aminu to PF full-time or you package him for a PF. Parsons and drafting Layman I think Mo is as good as gone.
With Parsons injury record that could be a disaster. I think we will keep Harkless, you cannot get away with just two players for PF/SF rotation.
Even if we get Parsons and keep Aminu and Harkless, we could really play any of those two at the 3 and 4 at any given time and play a kind of positionless switching style of basketball.
Dude, Layman is not even on the radar. He might not make the team after summer league. You don't make roster decisions based on a newly drafted 47th pick.
Neil loves flexibility. Now if Parsons in fact does sign with the Blazers, let's say the Blazers elect to keep Harkless now the team has created trade assets because now Aminu has big trade value to a team trying to shave a couple mil extra to get more cap space but doesn't want a full on dump. But that value would continue throughout the year and even til next summer so there's no hurry. Remember when we traded for Pippen? We had spent time accumulating the assets to be able to do that. At this stage of development of a team tradable depth of assets has more value than max contract guys and a depleted asset pool.
I'd be happy with Parsons if he can stay healthy. He's not 30. Only has 340 games under his belt. Last year he shot 41% from 3, 54% from 2. Plus he can handle the ball, unlike Aminu. In this cap climate, I bet many teams would love to have Aminu's contract, so we could trade him for a couple of 2nd round picks, and use cap space to go after Howard. We'd be 2/5ths of the team that we beat in the Houston series.
Parsons is better than both Barnes and Batum, if healthy. Would be the largest FA pickup in my lifetime, so stop with the negativity please. Just remind yourselves how many open threes we had (Aminu and Harkless). Those threes will hopefully now go to a 41% 3P shooter. We're going to have Lillard/CJ/Parsons locked up for the next 4 years, in their prime. All we're missing is some defense in the middle. Hopeful.
Most of the recent reports had just Boston and Atlanta but last night it was reported ( I forget where) that he would meet with 2 additional teams. 2 teams would be met with today and 2 more tomorrow. Haven't heard yet who those additional 2 teams are.
I am pissed that he hasn't agreed to it. We gave him a max and he's still meeting with Memphis? WTF is he waiting for? This better be the agent doing the Grizz a favor by granting a meeting.
Not sure, maybe he likes to be wined and dined? But Memphis is on a downward trajectory and Portland is a rising team. Not like Memphis can offer more money.
1. Tennessee has no income tax 2. If healthy, Conley, Gasol, Randolph is probably better than Lillard, McCollum as a contender next year.
I'm hoping it's just that he's a good guy and promised to meet with them. Unlike HasSan , who was just posturing
