Hmmm. Sooo basically if we sign Parsons to the max we'll have apx. $3M in cap space. Meyers cap hold counts as $7M. That makes it so we could offer him $10M to stay under the cap. If Dwight wants $20M, we'd only have to clear $5M in cap space. That means that we could trade Plumlee and Vonleh for picks (leaving us with 11 players, but when you're signing a 12th then there's no roster spot holds) So we could keep Harkless, Davis, and Aminu while working out a double sign and trade around Meyers and Howard.
Your math is hurting my head. Meyers isn't signing for 10 million after Timofey fucking Mozgov got 64 million from the Lakers. It's just not happening man. He's going to get 15-17 million per year, which is insane.
I don't think that makes sense. More like we get to $24M under the cap easy. Then we sign and trade Leonard at $17M for Howard, leaving us $7M under the cap or $7M toward signing Parsons. It's effectively a wash since just renouncing Leonard gets us $7M in cap space, too. There's no loopholes in the CBA.
Plus, we'd still have the cap space exception to sign a guy like Darrell Arthur. That would leave us with a lineup of: Lillard / McCollum McCollum / Crabbe Parsons / Harkless Aminu / Arthur Howard / Davis That would be an amazing squad.
Isnt that only dependent upon what they are willing to sign for? If Parsons takes $85 instead of $96 and Howard takes $20 instead of $24 and Hark signs a smaller contract to be assured being part of a winning team? IM following, im just hoping a few of these guys take a few mill less each to make it all work and still keep the depth that will make us a contender next year. I have to believe if Parsons and Howard take less than max, then other guys might jump on the bandwagon as well? Am I all alone on fantasy island or is Toto at least gonna join me?
You didn't understand at all. If BYC doesn't apply if the player your sending out is signed to a number that keeps you under the salary cap. Therefore, if we sign Parsons and have $3M in cap remaining, then we could sign Leonard to a $10M contract to stay under the cap, because the $3M in cap space plus his cap hold equals $10.7M. However, his salary has to be course enough to Dwights, so we'd still have to clear some cap space, but it'd only be $5M or $6M.
Parsons isn't going to take 11 million less than what we offered. Harkless isn't going to take less. None of these guys take less. They want as much as they can get.
BYC 1/2 salary would only apply to the ROCKETS if they're over the cap. If we sign Parsons, we don't have to renounce Leonard. We can sign him to whatever he's willing to accept, even going over the cap to do so.
Fucking read the thing.... I didn't say he'd sign for $10M. That was a hypothetical example. He'd sign for $16M. That $6M is what we'd have to clear. You're sitting here telling me I'm wrong when it's just that you have no clue in regards to the CORRECT math I did.
That was a hypothetical example. He'd sign for $16M. That $6M is what we'd have to clear. I explained it right after that...
They won't be, but the math is still a wash. S&T him for $10M, keeping us a shade under the cap, right? $10M minus his cap hold of $7M leaves $3M. Exactly the same as if you renounced him.
